CSMA is seeking a passionate, dynamic Improv & Acting Faculty to lead engaging, inclusive, and skill-building classes for adult professionals in a corporate setting. The ideal candidate brings strong performance experience, a collaborative teaching style, and the ability to foster a supportive and creative learning environment.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach improv and acting classes for adult students (beginner to intermediate levels) at the client site
  • Develop a curriculum that includes foundational acting techniques, improvisation exercises, and scene work
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning styles and skill levels
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student growth and confidence
  • Organize and direct informal showcases or performances
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Program Manager regarding class progress and needs

Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • Prior experience teaching acting and/or improv to adults
  • Strong background in theatre, improv, or performing arts
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, written and verbal
  • Ability to create a safe and inclusive learning space
  • Degree or formal training in Theatre Arts or related field
  • Experience with diverse communities and adult learners is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Competent computer skills and familiarity with video conferencing software, Zoom, Google Workspace, and MS Office.
  • A reliable form of transportation to get to and from the assigned client site/sites and occasional trips to the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View, CA.

Physical Demands

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Schedule

  • Teaching opportunities are primarily during weekdays from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
  • Weekly teaching hours may range from approximately 2 to 8 hours.
