Job Purpose: Associate - Carbon Credits is responsible for supporting the Carbon Department by managing carbon credit projects, resolving outstanding issues, ensuring timely completion of verification cycles, and contributing to the digitization of processes. This role will also be involved in policy advocacy, trading of carbon credits, and expanding the network of traders and buyers both in India and internationally.

Responsibilities

Audit and Management:

Oversee and ensure the successful completion of audits for all carbon credit projects, collaborating with internal teams, external auditors, and consultants.

Proactively address and resolve any outstanding issues related to carbon credit projects, ensuring quick action and resolution of discrepancies.

Manage the completion of verification cycles, coordinating with auditors and consultants to maintain timelines and ensure smooth progression of audits.

Push for timely completion of the verification process, ensuring no delays and meeting project deadlines.

Digitization & Steamlining

Contribute to the digitization efforts within the Carbon Department by assisting in the implementation and adoption of digital tools and platforms to optimize workflows.

Monitor the status of digitization projects, reporting on progress and ensuring smooth transitions from manual processes to digital systems.

Collaborate with IT and operations teams to ensure successful integration of digital solutions for improved efficiency and scalability.

Policy Advocacy & Regulatory Support

Provide input and support to the steering committee on regulatory matters, policy changes, and initiatives related to carbon credits, ensuring alignment with the company's goals.

Track and monitor changes in carbon-related policies and regulations, evaluating their potential impact on existing and new projects.

Assist in policy advocacy efforts by preparing policy briefs, presentations, and communications for submission to industry bodies and regulatory authorities.

Carbon Credit Trading Support

Assist in the trading of carbon credits, including GS VERs, VCUs, I-RECs, and RECs, ensuring efficient management of carbon credits and maximizing financial returns.

Expand the network of traders and buyers for carbon credits, both within India and internationally, by identifying new market opportunities and establishing key partnerships.

Conduct market research to identify potential buyers and traders in the carbon credit market, working to expand and nurture relationships with potential stakeholders.

Reporting And Documentation

Prepare and maintain comprehensive reports on the progress of carbon credit projects, audits, trading activities, and compliance status.

Ensure that all audit findings, resolutions, consultations, and trading transactions are thoroughly documented for future reference and compliance purposes.

Maintain a detailed documentation framework to support transparency and regulatory compliance.

Collaboration And Communication

Collaborate closely with internal teams, including regulatory, commercial, and operations, to ensure smooth execution and compliance with carbon credit project standards.

Liaise with external stakeholders such as auditors, consultants, regulators, and trading partners to resolve issues and ensure project goals are met.

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with carbon credit buyers and traders, ensuring a consistent and reliable supply and demand for carbon credits.

Qualifications

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Business, Finance, or related field.

Certifications in Carbon Credits, Sustainability, or Climate Change would be an advantage.

Work Experience

5-7 years of experience in carbon credits, sustainability projects, or environmental regulations.

Experience in carbon credit trading, audit processes, and working with regulatory bodies.

Familiarity with carbon markets, GS VERs, VCUs, and RECs.
