Hey there, visual storyteller! Were Pocket FM, an online audio streaming platform
spearheading the audio series space. Our vibe is all about creativity, collaboration, and doing
awesome things together. As we rapidly expand across the globe, were looking for a Visual
Designer / Illustrator to help shape the visual language of our product through the Aural
design system.
This isnt about decorative visuals. Its about building a cohesive illustration and visual layer
that helps millions of listeners understand, feel, and connect with our product every day.
You will work at the intersection of product, design systems, and brand, crafting a scalable
visual language thats expressive, clear, and deeply integrated into product experiences.
Responsibilities
- Own the Aural Visual Layer: Define and evolve the illustration and visual language of the Aural design system. Your work will shape how Pocket FM feels across onboarding, listening, discovery, and beyond.
- Illustrations for Key Product Moments: Create illustrations for onboarding, empty states, success and error states, and feature education. Design visuals that improve clarity, emotional tone, and usability, enhancing the experience, not distracting from it.
- Visual Language & Systems: Create reusable illustration components, patterns, and visual motifs. Establish guidelines for composition, colour, depth, and abstraction levels to ensure consistency across all product surfaces.
- Design for Scalability: Build modular illustration systems instead of one-off artwork.
- Ensure visuals work across multiple contexts, screen sizes, and surfaces while maintaining clarity and recognisability.
- Deep Integration with Product: Collaborate closely with product designers to seamlessly integrate illustrations into flows and interfaces, ensuring visuals support hierarchy, communication, and interaction.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with motion designers, engineers, and marketing/brand teams to create cohesive visual experiences. Maintain and contribute to
- Aural design system documentation with clear rules and examples.
Core Team Principles

- Open Feedback: Youre comfortable sharing work early, inviting critique, and iterating quickly
- Active Collaboration: You work closely with designers, writers, engineers, and marketers to land the best visual outcomes
