Mission of the Role : Serve as a team member of tooling and provide guidance in his area of expertise (Sheet metal, Diecasting and plastic). The Tooling Engineer will be the primary consultant to PD and supplier for manufacturing feasibility, providing vision and solutions on Mechanics to achieve company goals.

Key Objectives of this Role:

  • New Project Design Review, Analysis, ECN & Modification
  • Selection on stamping material and die casting
  • Selection of Progressive Tool or Stage tools
  • Lay out concept design
  • Optimization on concept to reduce the Stages
  • Analyze the failures during trial phase & make necessary change in design/tool to overcome the failures.
  • Verify, approve part 2d drawing & assembly instructions
  • Participate in DFEMA & analyze potential failure at the design phase & make necessary improvements
  • Startup Execution and implementation of New Projects in the company
  • Participate in the tool trial at the local/abroad factory & provide approvals for the reference of sourcing & Quality team
  • Approval for the mold/jigs/fixture which are being used in the project for development at supplier end.
  • Tool validation and Tool buy off activity
  • Provide approval of the product by means of making sign off with all relevant stake holders
  • Cost reduction activities.
  • Lead and approve Mechanical Design Reviews from tooling point of view
  • Support and approve mechanical risks assessment on project
  • Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers, including mentoring and coaching.
  • Create or update guidelines
  • Share Lessons Learned with mechanical engineering community
  • Support VAVE initiatives by providing some ideas and assessing technical feasibility
  • Drive innovations in Mechanical domain and lead development on new technologies
  • Provide to Executive Leadership technical solutions and vision.
  • Based on selected material, support tooling process

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Design issues after tool kick-off and product validation
  • Respect of Technical Tool Design Review process and timing
  • BOM cost
  • Lessons learned sharing

Key Year One Deliverables:

  • No non-conformity in Process for Technical Design Reviews on projects he/she is supporting
  • One training session provided to mechanical engineering community

Qualification, Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or NTTF (preferred) in the Mechanical /Tooling with relevant industry experience.
  • 12+ years of relevant engineering experience preferably in regional or global environment.
  • Experience in Automotive products development, preferably in Displays, Infotainment, Cockpit Electronic products, Electrification vehicles products.
  • Familiarity with TALC requirements of cockpit electronic products.
  • Proficiency in failure analysis tools and techniques is an added advantage
  • Exposure to mechanical product development and testing domains.
  • Ability to direct and solve complex problems
  • Proven supervisory and technical leadership especially in identification and resolution of technical problems.
  • Ability to share knowledge and to mentor and coach mechanical engineers
  • Ability to clearly communicate with alignment depending on audience
  • Ability to provide innovative technical solution as original thinker
  • Ability to use technical skills to make significant impact on projects regarding cost, timing, quality
  • Exposure to Global Culture/Customer is added advantage.
