Role Purpose

The Strategic Sourcing Leader will be responsible for building, developing, and managing the India-based supplier ecosystem for precision-manufactured components. This role is strategic and capability-driven, not transactional procurement.

The incumbent will drive supplier development, localization, cost competitiveness, and long-term sourcing strategy across precision machining, sheet metal, castings, and forgings to support manufacturing growth and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development

• Own end-to-end strategic sourcing strategy for manufacturing commodities including precision machining, sheet metal, castings, and forgings.
• Identify, evaluate, audit, and onboard new manufacturing suppliers across India.
• Lead vendor development programs to improve quality, cost, capacity, and delivery performance.
• Build a robust dual-sourcing and risk mitigation strategy.
• Manufacturing & Engineering Collaboration
• Work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to align sourcing strategy with technical requirements.
• Support new product development (NPD) through early supplier involvement.
• Drive make vs buy decisions and sourcing localization initiatives.

Cost & Value Optimization

• Develop and execute should-cost models / cost breakdowns for manufactured parts.
• Drive continuous cost reduction, value engineering, and localization initiatives.
• Negotiate long-term commercial agreements aligned with strategic objectives (not transactional buying).

Supplier Performance & Governance

• Establish and manage supplier performance metrics (quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness).
• Lead regular supplier reviews and improvement plans.
• Ensure suppliers meet manufacturing, quality, and compliance standard

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (B.E. Mandatory)
• Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience in sourcing/supply chain within manufacturing, engineering, or industrial domains
• Industry exposure to General Engineering, Automotive, Mechatronics, Capital Equipment, Aerospace, or Defense sectors
