About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior SQL Database Developer to join our team in the US night shift. This role is pivotal in designing, developing, and maintaining complex SQL databases that support our retail operations and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SQL development, database performance tuning, security, and architecture. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including application developers, data architects, and business analysts to deliver high-quality, scalable data solutions that drive decision-making and operational efficiency. Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in SQL development and database management is required, with proven expertise in working with large-scale SQL databases such as Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL Server. Strong proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and optimizing database performance, is essential. Familiarity with database security best practices, cloud database technologies, and data integration processes is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience with version control tools like Git, and possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Soft skills such as attention to detail, independence, and teamwork are equally important for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Database Development & Design: Develop and maintain complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and views. Design, implement, and optimize relational database schemas. Create and maintain database objects such as tables, indexes, and views, ensuring data integrity and performance optimization.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Analyze query performance and optimize SQL statements to ensure maximum efficiency. Utilize indexing, partitioning, and other techniques to enhance database performance. Monitor and troubleshoot database performance issues using profiling tools and techniques.
- Data Integration & Migration: Lead data integration efforts across multiple data sources, ensuring data accuracy and consistency. Support data migration projects by converting and importing data between systems, minimizing downtime and data loss.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with application developers, data architects, and business analysts to deliver effective database solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers. Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to SQL best practices.
- Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve complex database issues related to performance, functionality, and data integrity. Provide support for production environments and resolve urgent database issues promptly to minimize impact on business operations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Document database structures, processes, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. Generate status reports, performance insights, and recommendations for management, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
