Job Type - Remote

Job Description -

Role Summary

The ServiceNow Architect will join the client's existing Design Authority team, working alongside two incumbent architects to provide technical leadership, design oversight, and governance across the ServiceNow platform. This role is responsible for ensuring that all solutions delivered on ServiceNow are architecturally sound, aligned to platform standards and the enterprise roadmap, and built for scalability, maintainability, and long-term platform health.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a core member of the ServiceNow Design Authority, contributing to the review, challenge, and approval of solution designs across all in-flight and upcoming initiatives.

Define, evolve, and enforce architectural principles, design standards, patterns, and reusable reference architectures for the ServiceNow platform.

Lead end-to-end solution design for complex demands and projects spanning ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, SecOps, GRC, SPM, or other modules in scope.

Partner with enterprise architects, integration architects, security, and infrastructure teams to ensure ServiceNow solutions align with the broader enterprise architecture and technology strategy.

Review and approve technical designs, data models, integration patterns, and customisation vs. configuration decisions; champion an out-of-the-box first mindset and minimise technical debt.

Provide governance over instance strategy, environment management, release management, upgrade strategy, and platform performance and scalability.

Guide integration design across ServiceNow and surrounding systems (REST/SOAP, IntegrationHub, MID Server, event-driven patterns, identity/SSO, CMDB integrations, and discovery sources).

Own and maintain the CMDB and Common Service Data Model (CSDM) strategy and ensure adherence across solutions.

Support the platform owner and product managers in shaping the ServiceNow roadmap, evaluating new modules, features, and Now Platform releases.

Provide architectural input into demand qualification, effort estimation, and feasibility assessments raised through the demand management process.

Mentor developers, technical consultants, and business analysts on ServiceNow best practices and design thinking.

Stay current with ServiceNow product releases, deprecations, and emerging capabilities (including AI/Now Assist, Workflow Data Fabric, and similar), and assess their applicability for the client.

Contribute to security, compliance, and audit reviews of the platform; ensure designs adhere to the client's security and data protection standards.

Required Skills and Experience

10+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 6–7 years working on the ServiceNow platform and 3+ years in an architect or lead designer capacity.

Deep, hands-on expertise across multiple ServiceNow modules — minimally ITSM and ITOM, with strong working knowledge of at least two of HRSD, CSM, SecOps, GRC/IRM, or SPM.

Strong command of the Now Platform fundamentals: Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, Service Portal, UI Builder, Now Experience, scoped applications, ACLs, and platform performance considerations.

Proven experience designing and governing CMDB and CSDM implementations, including Discovery and Service Mapping.

Solid integration architecture background — REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server, event management, identity providers (SAML/OIDC), and enterprise integration patterns.

Demonstrated experience operating within or chairing a Design Authority, Architecture Review Board, or equivalent governance forum.

Ability to balance pragmatism with architectural rigour — knowing when to configure, when to customise, and when to push back.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; able to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence senior stakeholders.

Experience working in regulated or large-enterprise environments with formal change, release, and audit processes.

Preferred Qualifications

ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA) or Certified Technical Architect (CTA) — strongly preferred.

ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) and multiple CIS certifications (ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, CSM, SecOps, or SPM).

ITIL v4 Foundation or higher; TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture certification is a plus.
