We are looking for Service Manager

You'll make an impact by:

  • As the Data Lake Service Manager, you will be responsible for driving the strategic development, operation, and continuous improvement of the SDC Lake – Siemens enterprise‑wide data lake foundation within the Siemens Data & AI Cloud (SDC).
  • In this role, you will oversee platform feature planning, stakeholder alignment, architecture governance, cross‑platform integration, and operational excellence.
  • You will ensure that the SDC Lake evolves in line with SDC's long‑term vision while delivering a secure, scalable, and high‑performing service for all users and consuming platforms.
  • Define, maintain, and communicate the SDC Lake platform roadmap.
  • Plan and drive the development of new platform features, ensuring alignment with business requirements and long‑term platform strategy.
  • Plan and manage the integration of other platforms into the SDC Lake to enhance platform interoperability and user experience.
  • Identify opportunities for platform innovation, driving strategic improvements and modernization.
  • Oversee incident and problem management activities, ensuring timely resolution of issues, root‑cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions to maintain platform stability.
  • Monitor and continuously improve service performance and operational KPIs (e.g., availability, reliability, service levels), ensuring the platform meets agreed expectations and supports business‑critical use cases.
  • Collaborate closely with SDC participants, IT spokes, and cross-functional teams to prioritize features and ensure alignment with broader SDC initiatives.
  • Drive platform alignment with strategic topics such as metadata management, Iceberg adoption, talk to data, and SDC infrastructure integration.
  • Act as the primary communication interface for all matters related to the SDC Lake platform.
  • In collaboration with the Tech Lead, be responsible for the architecture of the SDC Lake platform to ensure scalability, performance, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Prepare and supervise the budget required for platform development, operations, and vendors.
  • Strategically plan and handle internal and external team resources to support platform delivery and operational perfection.

You're excited to build on your existing expertise, including:

  • A background in data engineering, cloud computing, software engineering, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, cloud storage technologies, and modern data platform concepts.
  • Strong understanding of Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures, including partitioning strategies, schema evolution, data governance, and decoupled storage/compute models.
  • Knowledge of open table formats such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake including how they enable ACID transactions, time‑travel, and scalable metadata handling.
  • Understanding of standard processes for designing secure, scalable, and cost‑efficient data lake environments (e.g., access patterns, encryption, lifecycle policies).
  • A passion for driving platform innovation and challenging the status quo in a structured and scalable way.
  • Excellent communication and partner leadership skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business-relevant discussions.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle roadmaps, budgets, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience working in agile environments and coordinating sprint delivery teams is a strong plus.
