Role Description

Hybrid Cloud Products and UX

• Cloud Products and UX is an Engineering team in Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure, responsible for maturing and maintaining the DB opinionated consumable services within GCP (Cloud Products) as well as maintaining the master record database and telemetry tooling wrt. product consumption via the GCP asset inventory.
• In addition, the team holds Engineering responsibility for DB's Cloud User Experience (currently an in-house developed Portal / UI). The Cloud Product and UX remit includes the development of AI/ML capabilities to support the end to end cloud onboarding user experience.
• Our goal is to use the full native capabilities of Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to build a self-service platform for DB's engineers to safely provision GCP resources without friction. You will be a member of a team that builds and operates this platform.
• As a Lead- Cloud Product Engineer you will be instrumental in the design, development, and operationalization of our GCP-based cloud products and user experience. You will provide technical leadership, guide engineering best practices, and contribute significantly to building a seamless self-service platform for Deutsche Bank's engineers.
• This role requires a blend of deep technical expertise, a product-oriented mindset, and a strong ability to drive initiatives and mentor team members.

Your key responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Team Development:

• Provide strong technical leadership on the development work, guiding architectural decisions and implementation strategies for new and existing platform capabilities.
• Mentor and coach your teammates on technical matters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and skill development within the team.
• Lead multiple self-managing, cross-functional platform teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and delivery excellence.
• Champion best practices in cloud architecture, security, reliability, and operational efficiency within the team.
• Act as a technology leader across the enterprise, role-modelling DB's engineering culture.

Product Engineering:

• Own end‑to‑end engineering and operational lifecycle of cloud products, from initial enablement through production, SRE support, upgrades, compliance, and decommissioning.
• Act as the central engineering authority for GCP and hybrid cloud products, driving standardisation, reducing technical debt, and closing ownership, risk, and operational gaps across product families.
• Lead product enablement and onboarding, ensuring foundational access, operational guardrails, and full alignment with Deutsche Bank standards (architecture, security, SDLC, network, patching, EOL/TRC).
• Design, maintain, and govern standard Terraform modules, policies, and operational guardrails, including hands‑on technical implementation and lifecycle management.
• Provide front‑to‑back operational ownership, including patching, upgrades, escalations, exception handling, migrations, and authoritative interaction with Google feature requests.
• Establish monitoring, reporting, and compliance drives covering usage, cost, service health, and policy adherence, executing consequence management where standards are not met.
• Embed cost optimisation, usability, and adoption into product design and defaults, supporting CIO priorities, private cloud onboarding, and safe, scalable consumption.
• Provide expert consultation and support to application teams, helping them effectively utilize and integrate with the cloud platform.

Your skills and experience

• You identify as a generalist who specialises in a few areas. Terraform, Python, Automation, DevOps (CI/CD) and at least one Public Cloud Provider (GCP, AWS or Azure)
• Strong experience with GCP services like Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, Networking, Kubernetes, AI/ML and Serverless technologies.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD tools, and GitOps workflows.
• You can demonstrate how you have helped your team to achieve its goals. You are an able trainer, coach, and mentor who knows when each technique is best applied.
• You should have experience of building platforms or services consumed outside of your team. Perhaps you have dealt with multi-tenanting, metering, or logging at scale on a SaaS product, integrated foundational infrastructure services like secrets management, identity management or software-defined networking in a large organisation, or alternatively you have documented, scaled, and secured APIs in a cloud or container platform.
• You are confident in working with several programming languages - preferably Python or Terraform -, tools and technologies, including Infrastructure as Code, with the ability to guide colleagues as to the context where each is useful.
• Ideally, you are experienced in using GCP or another public cloud provider to build applications.
• Google Cloud certifications (e.g., Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect, or Professional DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
