Role Overview: As a Senior Visual Designer at Tessell, you will play a critical role in creating visually stunning, user-friendly interfaces and experiences that reinforce our brand identity and enhance user engagement across digital platforms.
What Will You Do as a Senior Visual Designer at Tessell
- Lead Visual Strategy: Define and execute visual design strategies, aligning closely with product goals, brand identity, and user experience objectives.
- Brand Consistency: Maintain and enhance visual consistency across digital assets, ensuring alignment with Tessell's brand and visual guidelines.
- Creative Excellence:Develop high-quality visual assets, including interfaces, icons, illustrations, graphics, and animations that elevate user interactions.
- Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, engineers, and marketing teams. Mentor junior visual designers, guiding best practices and design quality.

- Strategic Design Vision: Develop and communicate a compelling design vision that aligns with Tessell's overall business strategy and product roadmap.
- Complex Challenges: Addressing a broad spectrum of complex design and user problems, leveraging established design principles and patterns, and innovating with new solutions to meet unmet user needs.
- Proactive Solutions: Proactively identify, define, and communicate intricate problems within project or product teams, providing innovative and pragmatic solutions.
- Equity and Innovation: Recognize when proposed solutions deliver limited benefit to users or create/reinforce inequities in experiences and take bold steps to communicate and address these issues with team leads.
How Do We Execute Great Design at Tessell
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with UX, engineering, product, and marketing to ensure visual solutions meet strategic objectives and user needs.
- Design Mentorship: Provide mentorship to junior designers, fostering growth and elevating overall team quality.
- Leadership and Influence: Align and integrate team efforts with overarching strategic goals, driving clarity and vision across teams.
- Continuous Innovation: Stay ahead of visual design trends, tools, and best practices, continuously refining and innovating our visual design approach.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 4 - 6 years of experience in designing digital assets and physical products. A portfolio of inspiring design work, executed either by yourself or a team that you led, conveys an ability to ship successful products that people love.
- Proficiency in UI Design Fundamentals, including typography, layout, colour theory, and interaction design.
- Basic Understanding of Motion Design – Ability to incorporate subtle motion elements that enhance usability.
- Strong Visual Storytelling Skills, using illustration, iconography, and design systems to guide user interactions.
- Hands-on Experience with Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro).
- Strong Collaboration Skills, with the ability to communicate design rationale effectively across teams.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, iterative design process where feedback loops drive improvements.
- A portfolio showcasing UI designs and, preferably, motion-enhanced prototypes (rather than just static mockups).
- A degree in Visual Communication, UI/UX Design, or related fields is a plus but not mandatory.
