Job Description

 Leads the design, development, and operational support for backend systems, ensuring system reliability, performance, and security. Guides the team in lifecycle management, incident management, and capacity planning. Oversee the implementation of best practices in system maintenance and support while providing strategic direction for backend infrastructure

.

Principal Duties:

  • Coordinates and leads the architecture, design, development, and operational support for backend systems.
  • Oversees incident management and ensures the implementation of preventative measures, including performing blameless postmortems.
  • Manages lifecycle management (LCM) activities, vulnerability management, and capacity planning.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation, processes, and best practices.
  • Provides regular operational, incident, and change reports.
  • Mentors and coaches team members, ensuring high performance and professional growth.
  • Partners with other teams, including Automation Engineering and Enterprise Architecture (EA), to align on solutions and strategic initiatives.

Experience:

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in backend system design, development, and support.
  • Advanced skills in incident management, lifecycle management, and system reliability.
  • Strong experience with performance tuning, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality deliverables.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of experience in backend system management and support.
  • Experience in the insurance or financial industry.
  • Knowledge of additional backend technologies or tools.
