About The Function
The Marketing function at MakeMyTrip is responsible for building a strong brand presence, driving customer acquisition, and maximizing engagement across all channels. By combining creativity with data-driven insights, the team designs and executes targeted campaigns that deliver measurable business impact. Within this, the Performance Marketing team spearheads customer acquisition and growth initiatives across key business verticals, including Ground Transport (Buses, Cabs & Trains), Holidays, Forex, and Gift Cards. By combining expertise in keyword research, content optimization, and technical SEO, the function aims to increase organic traffic, revenue, improve search engine rankings, and support our overall business goals, with a particular focus on driving growth for MakeMyTrip's Emerging lines of business.
About The Role
As an SEO Specialist, you will be responsible for optimizing the website and its content to achieve higher search engine rankings and increased traffic. You will work closely with the Product, Tech, Content, and Revenue teams to create and execute SEO strategies that align with our business goals. Your role will require both technical expertise and strategic thinking to strengthen our SEO efforts, including keyword research, on-page optimization, and performance analysis.
What Will You Be Doing
- SEO Strategy & Optimization: Manage end-to-end on-page and off-page SEO initiatives for assigned lines of business, including optimizing website architecture, content, internal linking, and other ranking factors to improve search visibility, keyword rankings, and organic traffic.
- Technical SEO & Platform Management: Partner with development teams to implement SEO best practices across new features and code releases, manage webmaster tools and notifications, monitor site health, and ensure technical SEO excellence.
- Keyword Research, Link Building & Traffic Acquisition: Conduct ongoing keyword discovery, expansion, and optimization; develop scalable link-building initiatives; and create and execute effective traffic acquisition strategies to drive significant growth in organic search traffic.
- Content Optimization & Conversion Enhancement: Collaborate with content teams to create high-quality, search-optimized content while leveraging forward-flow strategies to enhance user experience, guide audiences through optimized conversion funnels, and improve engagement and conversion rates.
- Analytics, Reporting & Automation: Define and monitor traffic acquisition KPIs, build SEO analytics frameworks, prepare performance reports, and develop technology-driven automation solutions to scale organic growth across large keyword portfolios.
- Competitive Intelligence & Industry Trends: Conduct competitor analysis, identify growth opportunities, and stay abreast of SEO best practices, Google algorithm updates, and search engine developments to proactively adapt strategies and mitigate risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Growth Enablement: Work closely with product managers, engineers, content writers, and other stakeholders to ensure SEO opportunities are effectively implemented, measured, and scaled to support business objectives.
Qualification & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of hands-on SEO experience with a proven track record of driving significant organic traffic growth for large-scale businesses.
- Strong experience working on e-commerce platforms and managing SEO initiatives across high-traffic websites.
- In-depth understanding of search engine ranking factors, optimization techniques, algorithm updates, and technical SEO best practices.
- Proficiency in SEO and analytics tools such as Google Analytics, SEMrush, Screaming Frog, Adobe Omniture, and other industry-standard platforms.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, generate actionable insights, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with an understanding of their impact on SEO performance.
- Deep understanding of web and mobile SEO challenges, opportunities, and optimization techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for analysis, reporting, forecasting, and presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate and influence cross-functional teams.
