Position Overview
We are seeking a technically proficient Purchase Executive with a strong electronics background to join our procurement team. This role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in electronics components and commercial acumen to manage vendor relationships, negotiate pricing, and ensure seamless procurement operations for our IoT manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Functions:
- Analyze and understand Bill of Materials (BOM) for IoT devices and electronic assemblies
- Evaluate technical specifications of electronic components including microcontrollers, sensors, PCBs, connectors, passive components, and other hardware elements
- Assess component specifications, datasheets, and technical feasibility
- Identify alternative components and suppliers while maintaining quality standards
- Collaborate with engineering and R&D teams to optimize component selection based on cost and availability
Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Source and evaluate vendors for electronic components and materials
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential vendors
- Conduct regular vendor assessments and performance reviews
- Manage multiple vendor quotations and comparisons
Operations & Follow-up:
- Track and expedite purchase orders to ensure timely delivery
- Coordinate with vendors for order confirmations, shipping updates, and delivery schedules
- Handle quality issues, returns, and replacements with vendors
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and vendor communications
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production planning
Commercial Activities:
- Achieve cost reduction targets through strategic negotiations
- Analyze market trends and commodity price fluctuations
- Prepare comparative statements and cost analysis reports
- Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field
- Diploma in Electronics with relevant experience will also be considered
Experience:
- 0-2 years of experience in technical procurement, preferably in electronics/IoT manufacturing
- Hands-on experience with BOM analysis and electronic component sourcing
- Proven track record in vendor management and price negotiations
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of electronic components, PCB assemblies, and hardware systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, BOMs, and datasheets
- Knowledge of quality standards for electronic components
- Familiarity with electronics supply chain and component lifecycle
Commercial & Soft Skills:
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP systems, and procurement software
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple vendors simultaneously
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
