Job Description – Procurement Executive (Construction Industry)
Core Responsibilities
- Float enquiries (RFQs) to approved vendors and subcontractors as per project requirements.
- Evaluate quotations based on techno-commercial parameters and prepare comparative statements (CS).
- Negotiate price, payment terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost optimization.
- Convert finalized offers into Purchase Orders (POs) and ensure accuracy in terms & conditions.
- Coordinate with project/site teams to understand material requirements and timelines.
Vendor Management
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new vendors/suppliers for various construction materials.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing vendors to ensure reliability and continuity.
- Monitor vendor performance on quality, cost, and delivery parameters.
- Handle vendor queries, discrepancies, and dispute resolution effectively.
Material Planning & Coordination
- Track material delivery schedules and ensure timely supply to project sites.
- Follow up with vendors for dispatch, logistics, and delivery status.
- Coordinate with stores and site teams for material receipt and verification.
- Ensure no project delays due to material shortages or procurement gaps.
Cost Control & Optimization
- Continuously identify opportunities for cost reduction and value engineering.
- Suggest alternate brands/makes without compromising quality standards.
- Support bulk procurement, rate contracts, and long-term agreements.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain proper documentation of POs, quotations, agreements, and approvals.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and audit requirements.
- Work closely with finance for invoice verification and payment processing.
Systems & Reporting
- Work on ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365, etc.) for procurement transactions.
- Generate reports such as PO status, pending orders, vendor performance, etc.
- Maintain accurate data and records for analysis and decision-making.
Technical Knowledge
- Basic understanding of construction materials (civil, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc.).
- Ability to read BOQs, drawings, and specifications is an added advantage.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 1–3 years in procurement (preferably in construction/real estate industry).
- Education: Bachelor's degree (Engineering/Commerce/Supply Chain preferred).
