Position Overview

Autodesk is seeking a Payroll Manager for the APAC region to join our team. This position will report to our APAC Payroll Operations Senior Manager. You will be embedded virtually with our global payroll and stock team and be a member of a worldwide finance organization that strives to be best-in-class. This role will manage payroll operations and associated processes across multiple countries in the APAC region. This role will be responsible for ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing and payroll project management while driving standardization, process improvements, and vendor relationships across diverse jurisdictions.

The ideal candidate brings deep regional payroll expertise, strong operational leadership, and experience managing complex, multi-country payroll environments.The ability to be flexible and to grow as a payroll tax professional is critical to the success of this person. This includes keeping an open mind to innovative ways, to challenge status quo to seek continuous improvement. This job requires execution of the below responsibilities with ownership and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and manage end-to-end payroll operations across multiple APAC countries (e.g., India, Singapore, China, Australia, among others) with the ability to function in a preparation or reviewer capacity

  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time in compliance with local labour laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements

  • Oversee payroll timelines, validations, reconciliations, and approvals

  • Review and sign off on payroll outputs, including gross-to-net calculations, statutory filings and payments

  • Perform complex payroll audits, reconciliations, and variance analysis to ensure data integrity

  • Build and review payroll documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures with accuracy and efficiency

  • Develop payroll education training and materials for employees

  • Act as the escalation point for payroll-related issues

  • Manage statutory reporting, filings, audits, and year-end activities across APAC jurisdictions

  • Deliver payroll metrics, dashboards, and insights to leadership

  • Analyse payroll data to identify trends, discrepancies, and improvement opportunities

  • Support financial reporting and month-end close activities

  • Drive standardization and automation of payroll processes across countries

  • Identify opportunities for efficiency, scalability, and risk mitigation

  • Lead and support payroll vendor and system implementations, upgrades, or transitions

  • Manage relationships with payroll vendors and service providers, including vendor performance against SLAs and drive continuous improvement

  • While this role will be an individual contributor to start (i.e., not a people manager), the ideal candidate is willing and able to act in a mentoring and leadership capacity for the payroll team in India

  • Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement

  • Other special projects as they arise

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 8+years of payroll experience across multiple APAC countries

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification is preferred

  • Detailed experience with Workday HCM and payroll processing platforms (e.g., iiPay, ADP, Workday, etc)

  • Subject matter expert with payroll regulations, employee benefits and expenses in key APAC countries (India required others preferred)

  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance and risk management

  • Ability to manage complexity across multiple jurisdictions

  • Experience with multinational companies, technology industry a plus

  • Experience in a shared services or global organization preferred

  • Detailed oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, organized and thorough with desire for continuous improvement and growth with a focus on automation

  • Exposure to SOX controls and audit environments

  • Project management and transformation experience is a plus

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
