Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecom Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer 2/3 routers, and data services.
- Experience in network operations, systematic troubleshooting in IP and Optical environments with a focus on DevOps.
- Experience with Unix/Linux administration with scripting/coding (e.g., DevOps).
- Experience in IP Network Operations, including optical networking. Experience in TCP/IP and network routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS) and infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Layer 1 optical transmission systems, Layer 3 routing TCP/IP, wireless networking, network design, or operations.
- Experience with optical network installation, maintenance, and operations for a large network service provider or large enterprise networks.
- Ability to employ troubleshooting methodology and use creative problem-solving under pressure.
- Ability to work in shift in a Network Operations Center environment.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to network outages by providing a diagnosis of Layer 1 to Layer 3 network errors and initiate and complete network repairs.
- Develop workflows and systems to diagnose optical Layer 1 and Layer 3 network issues to completion.
- Participate in 24/7 global team shift rotations.
- Provide remote support for field operations related to network repairs.
- Interface with high-level customers, communicating repair status and updates as needed.
