Job Accountabilities:

An experienced geophysicist responsible for seismic reservoir characterization and seismic interpretation projects for integrated reservoir study and well placement. Should possess advanced expertise in geophysics with a deep understanding and working experience of seismic data analysis and inversion techniques to provide insights into subsurface reservoir properties. Adheres to RIL business plan with 100% compliance on HSE and core V&Bs of RIL.

Seismic Inversion and reservoir characterization: Utilize cutting edge geophysical techniques and software for generating inversion products and attributes for characterizing reservoir; Identify Rock Physics Modelling (RPM) strategy, Generate RPM/RPT; Perform/review well to seismic tie & extract wavelets for seismic inversion; Perform fluid and lithology substitution; Perform cross plot and EI analysis; Select attribute for fluid/ lithology; Perform synthetic modelling - Prepare Zero-offset & offset Synthetics in both in-situ and what-if situations; Compare Synthetics with Seismic data; Identify processing requirements for seismic reservoir characterization; Provide inputs on Inversion strategy (post-stack, pre-stack, elastic, coloured, GI etc); Perform Seismic Inversion; Generate net to gross, porosity, lithology etc. volume as required; Generate AVO/DHI attributes; check consistency of attributes with RPM; Risk-uncertainty analysis of seismic inversion and reservoir characterization.

Seismic Interpretation and Integration: Perform seismic interpretation and integration of well and associated data; Perform/review surgical interpretation of horizon and faults; Perform well-seismic tie, Synthetic Seismogram generation; Review/generate maps to understand structural and stratigraphic aspects; Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate seismic data with geological and petrophysical information; Perform attribute analyses; Perform seismic blueing to enhance data; Perform/Review quantitative interpretation using Seismic Inversion, AVO attributes; Perform velocity modelling for depth conversion; Compute volumetric estimation; Capture Risk elements; QC seismic acquisition, processing/reprocessing projects in association with functional team; Provide inputs and interface with key stakeholders for static model building.

Well placement and planning: Plan and Optimize well placement; perform Appraisal, development and In-fill well planning using the appropriate seismic attribute volumes; Prepare well prognosis, targets & trajectory; Analyze for shallow hazards; characterization of overburden for well placement; Provide inputs to well planning and interact with drilling/operations; Recommend data acquisition requirements during drilling.

Provide inputs for DoC/ Appraisal Plan/ Field Development Plan(FDP): Provide inputs for Integrated Sub-Surface Description; Provide inputs for Appraisal Program; Execute Appraisal Activities including seismic API and well; Perform Resource Assessment; Provide inputs for appraisal and ML areas; Provide inputs for preparation of Declaration of Commerciality (DoC); Perform reservoir connectivity analysis to identify connectivity between sands, perm barriers & their impact on reservoir depletion scheme; Interact with Exploration, Projects and FC&A for Techno-economic analysis; Provide inputs for preparation and implementation of FDP in consultation with key stakeholders.

Stakeholder & People Management: Prepare stage gate documents; Conduct Knowledge sharing sessions; Present to management, JV partners, regulatory authorities as required; Capture key learnings, Ensure safety as per HSE guidelines; Comply with PSC/JOA and statutory requirements.

Skill & Competencies:

• Knowledge and working experience of Seismic Inversion and AVO analysis; Generation of rock physical model; Fluid substitution analysis and synthetic modelling;
• Working knowledge/ Hands-on experience in interpretation/Reservoir Characterization software like Landmark, Petrel, HRS, Jason Geoscience Workbench, RockDoc etc
• Capable of coding in any one of the following programming language (Python/Matlab/C); skilled in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence
• Experience in Geophysical Interpretation; Experience with well to seismic tie, synthetic generation, wavelet extraction, horizon and fault interpretation using 2D and 3D seismic and other suitable attribute volumes, Velocity modelling and depth conversion, 3D visualization and interpretation; Seismic data enhancement- spectral blueing; Working experience in data analytics
• Knowledge of identifying and capturing uncertainties and risk in the geophysical interpretations.
• Well placement, planning and prognosis.
• To work in multi-disciplinary team consisting of Geologists, Geophysicists and Petrophysicist and be able to deliver as per the business plan requirement.

Education Required:

• Minimum 8 years experience in E&P with working experience as seismic interpreter/ seismic reservoir characterization Geophysicist.
• Extensive experience in Prospect/ field Evaluation, Seismic attributes & Inversion, Velocity Modelling, Risk & Uncertainty assessment, Techno-Commerciality Analysis and exploration/ appraisal/development well placement
