Position Overview
The J-1 Teacher Recruitment Specialist is responsible for J-1 Teacher recruitment efforts. This role focuses on identifying, attracting, and screening qualified international teachers for placement in U.S. schools under the J-1 visa program. The Recruitment Associate will manage recruitment pipelines, develop partnerships, and ensure the quality and compliance of all incoming applications.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation
- Work with Recruitment and sponsor stakeholders to develop and execute strategic recruitment plans to attract qualified international teachers.
- Work with Marketing to fruitfully engage with international teacher communities.
- Use sponsor hiring data and sales requests to drive recruitment targets and goals.
- Conduct research to identify new recruitment channels and target markets.
- Serve as an expert on differentiated global audiences.
- Travel internationally or domestically (as needed) to represent the program at recruitment fairs, partner meetings, and educational institutions.
- Generate leads through online platforms, events, partnerships, and referrals.
- Actively search for qualified teachers through online recruitment platforms, alumni networks, and teaching forums.
- Partner with sponsor alumni networks to garner repeat or enterprise possibilities.
- Engage and nurture leads from initial inquiry to application submission
Application Screening & Matching
- Review and evaluate all applications for eligibility, qualifications, and completeness.
- Conduct initial interviews and checks to ensure candidate suitability and program compliance.
- Maintain organized records of candidate status and communications, including rationale for removal.
Candidate Assignment
- Match and assign screened candidates to the appropriate J-1 sponsor based on procedure, profile and program needs.
- Collaborate with sponsor organizations and operations stakeholders to provide complete candidate profiles and ensure alignment with host school requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Familiarity with J-1 Teacher Exchange Visitor Program requirements and life cycle.
- Ability to communicate with a global audience and provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to collaborate with a global team and effectively communicate with stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to identify irregularities, inconsistencies, or potential fraud in application and/or subsequent screening interviews.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
