IBM MQ Administrator

• Manages, maintains, and optimizes existing IBM MQ messaging infrastructure.
• Ensures the high availability, performance, and security of mission-critical messaging systems.
• Provides expert-level operational support and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the day-to-day administration and support of complex, existing IBM MQ environments.
• Enforce and maintain established MQ security policies and procedures, including authentication, authorization (OAM), and encryption (TLS/SSL).
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning, and proactively address potential bottlenecks within the existing infrastructure. Maintain and execute established disaster recovery plans for the MQ infrastructure, including backup/restore procedures and failover testing. Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex MQ issues, including performance problems, security incidents, and system outages. Maintain and enhance existing automated monitoring and alerting solutions for the MQ environment.
• Provide technical guidance and support to other IT teams and application developers regarding MQ usage and best practices.
• Lead the planning and execution of MQ upgrades, migrations (within existing architecture), and patch management.
• Collaborate with application teams to troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related application issues.
• Maintain and update existing scripts and automation tools (e.g., using shell scripting, Python, Ansible) for managing MQ configurations.
• Conduct regular security audits of the MQ environment to ensure compliance.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for the existing MQ architecture, configurations, and procedures.
• Serve as the primary escalation point for all MQ-related operational issues.
• Stay current with IBM MQ best practices and security updates, and apply them to the existing environment.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of hands-on experience administering IBM MQ in complex, enterprise-scale environments.
• Expert-level knowledge of IBM MQ concepts. • Working knowledge of Azure cloud is a plus.
• Proven experience managing and maintaining robust and scalable MQ architectures.
• Scripting and automation skills are a plus
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Strong analytical abilities, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues under pressure.
