About the role

Job Title: Manager HR, India

Works closely with and have impact on: All Line Managers and Employees across all functional areas based in India and all Global HR Team Members

Reports to: Director, HR APAC (exclu Japan), Global Ops & QA

Function: Global HR

Work Location/Site: HMIN, India

Role Overview

Serving as the primary HR contact for line managers and employees, this role provides onsite HR leadership, guidance and coaching on employee matters and HR processes across the India organization. The role supports the achievement of both short- and long-term business objectives while ensuring alignment with Global HR and Commercial business strategies.

The incumbent acts as a trusted HR Business Partner to business leaders and key stakeholders, providing strategic HR insights and support for business and operational planning, while ensuring compliance with local labour legislation and global policies and standards.

In addition, the HR Manager is responsible for overseeing office administration and workplace operations to ensure an efficient, well-managed and positive work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

HR Responsibilities

  • Maintain a visible and accessible presence within the organization, serving as a key point of contact for line managers and employees.
  • Act as a trusted HR advisor and partner to line managers and stakeholders by:
  • Providing HR input into business, budget and operational planning to support the achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Supporting talent attraction, development, engagement and retention to meet current business needs and future growth plans.
  • Developing and implementing locally relevant HR strategies, programs and policies for India.
  • Leading the implementation and continuous enhancement of employee recognition initiatives.
  • Managing annual HR processes, including performance calibration, compensation reviews and bonus cycles.
  • Advising, coaching and supporting managers on HR best practices while ensuring compliance with local employment legislation and global policies.
  • Managing employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes and grievance handling.
  • Promoting company values and culture, while fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing work environment.
  • Facilitating the Employee Engagement action planning and leading the employee engagement and communication actions/initiatives across the India organization on HR-related topics.
  • Partnering with business leaders and the global Talent Management team to strengthen organizational and workforce capabilities.
  • Developing and executing departmental goals, objectives and plans for the India HR function.
  • Preparing and managing annual and quarterly HR budgets, including labour costs and headcount planning and monitoring expenditure.
  • Analyzing HR metrics and trends to support data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Representing HR during internal and external audits.
  • Supporting cross-border employee mobility and relocation initiatives (as appropriate/required).
  • Lead or contribute to business and HR projects, initiatives and continuous improvement efforts as assigned by management.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the superior.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic oversight for all administrative functions, ensuring efficient and effective office operations
  • Supervise the management of office fixed assets, inventory and logistics for internal/external events.
  • Ensure vendor management, office expenses, and facility management are effectively handled.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the Admin resource function to ensure timely and effective management of travel arrangements and associated logistics.
  • Monitor all administrative activities to maintain office upkeep and ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Lead, mentor and supervise the Admin resource, ensuring the successful execution of administrative functions and professional development of the team.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years in a people management or HR leadership role, preferably within a multinational organization operating in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders to drive HR strategies, talent management, employee relations, organizational development and change initiatives.
  • Experience in the medical device, healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries would be an advantage.

Skills / Accreditations

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to effectively partner and negotiate with business leaders to achieve both HR and organizational objectives.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Self-driven, proactive and resourceful, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Independent and results-oriented, while demonstrating a collaborative and team-focused approach.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to navigate change and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and HR systems; relevant HR professional certification would be an advantage.

Academic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline; a Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Professional HR certification or relevant postgraduate qualifications would be an added advantage.
