A Brief Overview

The Executive Director, Software Engineering will provide the vision, leadership, and support for the design and implementation of software solutions aligned with the company's product roadmap. This role will be responsible for making key decisions related to the technology implementation choices, driving alignment across engineering, product and architecture teams on the technical design, and converting the strategy into a predictable execution plan with goal of delivering products and services on-time, on-scope and on-quality. The ideal candidate will establish technical and leadership credibility by supporting the team's health, deliver product commitments, co-ordinate and communicate effectively across departments on collaborative goals, and drive execution plan to solve ambiguous problems.

What You Will Do

  • Manage multiple product development teams in the most cost effective manner while maintaining highest quality, predictability and velocity.
  • Collaborate with business, product and technology stakeholders to develop a technology vision and roadmap for the products
  • Develop short-term and long-term product development execution plan, and direct software activities to ensure that the projects are completed on-scope, on-quality and on-time.
  • Oversees team(s) of colleagues engaged in the design and development of software applications.
  • Responsible for the department's OKR's related to engineering velocity, predictability and quality. Drive throughput and efficiencies at a strategic level
  • Mentor and grow team members and leaders within the team, develop leadership skills
  • Evaluate and hire top engineering talent, motivate and communicate effectively within and across the organization
  • Ensure ongoing user adoption, support, training, architectural design, and custom dev activities as well as responsible for enhancements, upgrades, data conversations, and release updates
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for a specified domain/platform, and support the business and technology operations teams
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Complies with all policies and standards

Education Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred required
  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience, advanced degree preferred preferred

Experience Qualifications


  • Typically 15+ years of software engineering experience required
  • Typically 8+ years hands-on product development experience required
  • Typically 8+ years people management experience required
  • Typically 6+ years experience working with technical & functional resources and following an Agile based delivery methodology preferred

Skills And Abilities


  • Proven ability to interface and partner with C-level Executives and Senior Management (Intermediate proficiency)
  • Ability to understand the business, business needs and identify areas that can be optimized (Advanced proficiency)
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems, make decisions, and build trust across the organization (Advanced proficiency)
  • Ability to guide team on multiple tasks and deliver results with aggressive timelines (Advanced proficiency)
