Power the Future of Data & Why This Role Matters
We are looking for a skilled and proactive
Database Administrator/Lead DBA to join our Engineering team and support Sirion's rapidly growing, mission-critical data infrastructure. This role is central to ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of our database environments that power a global, AI-driven enterprise platform.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on expertise across both
NoSQL and relational databases, a deep understanding of database performance and scalability, and the ability to partner closely with engineering and operations teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
How You'll Make An Impact
- Database Architecture & Operations: Design, configure, administer, and maintain multiple production and development database environments, including MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Reliability & Performance: Drive continuous improvements in database performance, scalability, availability, and resilience across complex systems.
- Engineering Partnership: Work closely with engineering teams to design, build, and operate robust database solutions aligned with application needs.
- Problem Solving & Optimization: Support teams with data-related challenges such as data modeling, querying, reporting, and search optimization.
- Production Support: Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve database-related incidents in production environments.
- High Availability & Recovery: Implement and manage clustering, replication, backup, auto-recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Monitoring & Insights: Leverage logging and monitoring tools to proactively identify issues and optimize database health.
- Technology Evolution: Stay current with emerging database technologies and recommend upgrades and enhancements to strengthen the data platform.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with deployment and operations teams to resolve infrastructure challenges and improve system stability.
Skills & Experience You Bring To The Table
- Education: BE/BTech preferred from a reputed institute.
- Database Expertise: Strong hands-on experience in MongoDB administration, including security, monitoring, performance tuning, debugging, and maintenance.
- Relational Databases: Proven experience in PostgreSQL administration, optimization, and tuning.
- Scalability & Availability: Solid understanding of database clustering, high availability, replication, pooling, backup, and recovery mechanisms.
- Monitoring & Tooling: Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Percona, pgBadger, PoWA, Nagios, or similar platforms.
- Query Optimization: Advanced ability to analyze complex EXPLAIN plans and optimize queries effectively.
- Data Design: Strong knowledge of indexes, views, partitioning, aggregations, window functions, and caching techniques.
- Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience working with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, OCI, or IBM Cloud and their database services.
- Additional Databases: Exposure to Cassandra or MySQL is an added advantage.
- Security & Compliance: Familiarity with database security best practices and data privacy standards.
- Automation & Scripting: Experience with SQL, Python, or shell scripting for automation is preferred.
- Ways of Working: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
