Job Description

Job Title: Oracle & SQL Server Database Administrator

Location: Bangalore

Experience: 11 - 15years

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server technologies. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Oracle ASM, RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, RMAN, and performance tuning, as well as strong proficiency in SQL Server installation, configuration, backup/recovery, performance tuning, and security. This role involves supporting high-availability architectures, disaster recovery solutions, and database optimization across both platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Oracle Database Administration & High Availability

- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Database 19c/21c on Linux/Unix environments.

- Administer and manage Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) to ensure high availability and scalability.

- Implement, monitor, and troubleshoot Oracle ASM for efficient storage management.

- Configure and maintain Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery and data replication.

- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication and integration.

SQL Server Administration

- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (2016/2019/2022) on Windows environments.

- Manage SQL Server Agent jobs, linked servers, and database mail.

- Configure and maintain SQL Server High Availability solutions including Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering.

- Perform database migrations, upgrades, and patching.

- Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance using tools like SQL Profiler, Extended Events, and Database Tuning Advisor.

Backup, Recovery & Security

- Implement Oracle RMAN and SQL Server backup and recovery strategies, including full, differential, and transaction log backups.

- Ensure database security through user access control, auditing, and encryption techniques on both platforms.

- Perform disaster recovery planning and participate in periodic failover testing.

Performance & Tuning

- Optimize Oracle and SQL Server database performance through indexing, partitioning, query optimization, and tuning.

- Monitor and analyze system performance using AWR, ADDM, SQL Trace, TKPROF (Oracle) and DMVs, Query Store (SQL Server).

- Troubleshoot performance issues related to SQL queries, application design, and infrastructure.

Database Monitoring and Documentation

- Implement proactive monitoring solutions using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) or third-party tools like SolarWinds, Redgate, or SentryOne.

- Develop and maintain database documentation, including SOPs, DR procedures, and capacity planning reports.

Collaboration & Support

- Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues.

- Provide 24/7 support for critical database environments as part of an on-call rotation.

- Participate in database upgrades, patches, and migrations following best practices.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills:

- Oracle Database Administration (19c, 21c)

- SQL Server Administration (2016/2019/2022)

- Expertise in ASM, RAC, Data Guard, GoldenGate, and RMAN

- Experience with Always On, Clustering, and SQL Server Agent

- Performance tuning using AWR, ADDM, ASH (Oracle) and DMVs, Query Store (SQL Server)

- Hands-on experience with OEM and SSMS

- Knowledge of database security, auditing, and compliance best practices

- Experience with Linux/Unix and Windows environments, including shell and PowerShell scripting

Soft Skills:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and documentation skills

- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-availability environment

Preferred Qualifications

- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) in Oracle Database Administration

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent

- Experience with Cloud Platforms (OCI, Azure)
