Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and support Microsoft SQL Server platforms in a business-critical manufacturing enterprise environment. This role is responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, backup and recovery readiness, and overall operational stability across on-premises and Cloud-hosted SQL Server environments.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions, and automation using T-SQL and PowerShell, along with experience supporting ERP, PDM, and enterprise integration platforms. Exposure to hybrid or Cloud-based SQL workloads and manufacturing systems is an added advantage.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances across Dev, Test, Staging, Production, and DR.
- Lead database upgrades, patching, and environment standardization.
- Design and manage High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication).
- Define, implement, and regularly test backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time restores.
- Proactively monitor and tune SQL Server performance at server, database, and query levels.
- Analyze execution plans, wait statistics, blocking, and long-running queries.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents, including RCA and preventive actions.
- Manage database security, access controls, auditing, and compliance requirements.
- Support SQL workloads for ERP, PDM, and integration platforms.
- Automate routine DBA activities using T-SQL, PowerShell, and SQL Server Agent.
- Perform capacity planning and ensure system scalability for business growth.
- Maintain documentation, standards, procedures, and change records.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call support as part of a DBA rotation.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of strong hands-on SQL Server DBA experience
- Bachelor's degree or MCA from a recognized university.
- Expertise in performance tuning and optimization.
- Solid understanding of HA/DR architecture.
- Backup, restore, and disaster recovery planning.
- Advanced T-SQL scripting and troubleshooting.
- SQL Server security, roles, permissions, and auditing
- Experience supporting organizations with large-scale operational workloads.
- Experience with SSMS (SSRS exposure preferred).
- Automation: Write scripts (T-SQL, PowerShell) to automate repetitive tasks.
Preferred Strong Expertise Skills
- SQL tuning.
- Query execution plans and explain plan interpretation.Wait events & performance diagnostics.
