Job Description

Job Title: Business Development Manager – Building Materials

Industry: Building Materials (e.g., Cement, Tiles, Pipes, Adhesives, Paints, Steel, etc.)

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities to drive revenue growth and market expansion. This role focuses on building relationships with key stakeholders such as architects, builders, contractors, and institutional clients while also exploring new channel and project partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Acquisition:

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in retail, institutional, and project segments.
  • Target untapped geographies, industry verticals, and upcoming construction projects.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with architects, consultants, builders, contractors, and government bodies.
  • Conduct regular client meetings, presentations, and product demos.

Project Sales Management

  • Track ongoing and upcoming projects; engage at the specification and planning stages.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely project execution and deliveries.

Channel Development

  • Support in the expansion of dealer/distributor network where relevant.
  • Assist in onboarding new partners and maintaining strong working relationships.

Market Analysis & Strategy

  • Conduct competitor analysis and identify trends in product usage and preferences.
  • Provide input for pricing, promotional campaigns, and product development.

Lead Management

  • Convert qualified leads into business opportunities through systematic follow-up and relationship-building.
  • Ensure timely CRM updates and reporting on sales pipeline and closures.

Cross-functional Coordination

  • Work closely with the marketing, supply chain, and finance teams to ensure seamless customer service.

Key Skills Required

  • Excellent business development and client relationship skills
  • Strong knowledge of project-based sales cycles and decision-making processes
  • Effective communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities
  • Strategic thinking with a solution-selling mindset
  • Good knowledge of CRM tools, MS Office, and construction industry dynamics
