About The Role
The AVP Business Analyst will play a pivotal role within the Trade Operations team, focusing on process enhancement, documentation, and cross-functional coordination in the trade domain. This position requires a strategic thinker with a comprehensive understanding of trade finance operations, particularly in areas such as export documentary letters of credit, export collections, export loans, shipping guarantees, and reimbursement authorizations.
The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business users, IT teams, compliance, risk SMEs, and domain leads to ensure seamless and compliant trade operations. The role involves translating business requirements into technical solutions, supporting system development, and ensuring that operational processes align with regulatory standards and organizational goals. The AVP will also be responsible for preparing business requirement documents (BRDs), test cases, and supporting user acceptance testing (UAT). Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 11+ years of experience in back-office operations within the trade finance sector of a financial institution. Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in trade finance instruments such as export documentary letters of credit, export bills, export collections, pre-shipment loans, forfaiting, export loans, and guarantees are essential. Proven expertise in requirements gathering, process documentation—including the creation, review, and maintenance of business and system documentation such as BRDs and manuals—is required.
The candidate must demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills, with experience in coordinating with business units, IT teams, vendors, and compliance departments. A track record of identifying, assessing, and mitigating project risks and issues, along with proposing effective solutions, is crucial. Familiarity with transaction processing, documentation, compliance, and settlement processes in trade finance, including guarantees, supply chain finance, and open account transactions, is highly desirable.
Additional qualifications include excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across diverse teams. The candidate should be proactive, responsible, and capable of leading initiatives and motivating team members to achieve shared objectives.
Responsibilities
Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with business users and IT teams to gather, clarify, and document requirements. Support impact analysis and ensure alignment across all stakeholders.
Execution of User Tasks as Business Analyst: Conduct tasks based on SME and BA Lead guidance, including facilitating system workflows, requirement gathering, gap analysis, and establishing new procedures or workarounds. Provide training to local and overseas users and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Conduct system effectiveness studies and assist in preparing operational and system manuals.
Documentation and Quality Control: Prepare, review, and update key project deliverables such as BRDs, manuals, and process documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity.
Risk and Issue Management: Identify potential project risks and issues, analyze their impact, and propose mitigation strategies and contingency plans to ensure project continuity and success.
User Support and Knowledge Transfer: Promote standardization of deliverables and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team. Support end-user adoption activities to ensure smooth transition and effective utilization of systems and processes.
