Assistant Manager Tax Compliance (UK & Europe)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to join our Finance Centre of Excellence in Mumbai. This role will primarily focus on managing UK and European tax compliance while supporting broader finance functions such as financial planning & analysis, reporting & compliance, taxation, and treasury.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to achieving 100% compliance, possess a proactive whatever it takes attitude, and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Time zone:

The role requires working predominantly in the UK time zone to effectively support UK and European tax compliance activities, collaborate with crossfunctional stakeholders, and meet regulatory deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare direct and indirect tax computations using SAP S/4HANA (S4H).
  • Manage end-to-end tax compliance for the UK and European regions, including timely filing of returns.
  • Ensure 100% tax and SOX compliance with zero delays in statutory filings.
  • Reconcile tax liabilities with accounting books and resolve discrepancies.
  • Perform SAP clearing of documents post tax settlements.
  • Plan and estimate tax liabilities and coordinate funding for timely payments.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable teams to track and ensure tax payments.
  • Prepare and present tax compliance and reporting packs.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and regulatory authorities.
  • Work closely with external tax advisors for local compliance filings across Europe.
  • Ensure adherence to financial standards including Local GAAP and US GAAP.
  • Contribute to implementation and improvement of finance policies, processes, and standards.
  • Demonstrate agility and ability to work under strict timelines and high-pressure environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Professional tax/accounting qualification (CA / ACCA / CTA preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Direct Tax
  • Indirect Tax (VAT, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially advanced Excel.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and global stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to meet strict deadlines with zero tolerance for delays in compliance.
  • Experience: 36 years in tax compliance or related finance roles.

Preferred (Good to Have)

  • Hands-on experience in UK & European indirect tax compliance (VAT filings, EC Sales Lists, etc.).
  • Experience in corporate tax return filings.
  • Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA or similar ERP systems.
  • Exposure to multinational environments and external tax advisory coordination.
