They utilize CAD software (Adobe Suite) to design, select materials, and collaborate with production teams to ensure manufacturing feasibility. Key duties include developing, recoloring, and repeating patterns, creating prototypes, and researching trends.
ProspectsProspects +5Core ResponsibilitiesDesign Creation: Create original sketches, patterns, and motifs for fabrics using CAD software (Photoshop/Illustrator), ensuring technical repeat capability.Trend & Market Research: Analyze current trends, color palettes, and consumer preferences to inform design direction and ensure marketability.Technical Development: Work with production teams to ensure designs are technically feasible regarding weaving, printing, dyeing, and finishing techniques.Color & Material Selection: Select appropriate yarns, fabrics, and colorways, often using Pantone systems to maintain accuracy.Sample Development: Produce or oversee the creation of samples and prototypes for evaluation, client presentation, or trade fairs.
