Job Description

As a Technical Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the development and validation of software for our Lightspan family of products. Your expertise will ensure that our software meets the highest standards and provides an exceptional user experience. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including R&D, product management, and customer support, to drive the development process and deliver features on time. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and gain leadership experience.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Expertise in IP-based networks and Layer 2/2+ protocols to develop and validate software for Lightspan products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless development and timely feature delivery.
  • Design manual and automated tests to enhance test coverage and accelerate bug resolution.
  • Stay updated with emerging network technologies, particularly L2 & L2+ protocols like Ethernet, VLAN, QoS, and IGMP.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, providing leadership and oversight on projects.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues across customer environments.
  • Innovate and enhance the product's software architecture and development processes.
  • Leverage customer feedback to refine and improve product features for robust live deployments.

Key Skills And Experience

Must have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on IP-based networks and Layer 2/2+ protocols.
  • Advanced programming skills in C/ C++, JAVA, with expertise in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and the design and development of complex software systems.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, VLAN, QoS, IGMP, and other relevant network protocols.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing strategies, with a focus on test coverage and bug resolution.

Good to have:

  • Mentor and guide junior team members, with good leadership and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies and best practices
