Job Description

  1. Core Responsibilities
  • Support the data engineering function, working to continuously improve processes and solutions in the Group across all data types; focusing on demonstrable value back to the business.
  • Support the development of documentation to ensure initiatives are well documented from a data perspective
  • Develop technical documentation in response to business requirements
  • Provide technical support for all data related projects; providing guidance and support on data best practise.
  • Proactively engage with the business regarding projects and ensure that Data principles are being adhered to.
  • Promote a collaborative, cross functional approach to data knowledge sharing, contributing to cross functional teams as a data SME
  • Work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to ensure data is given due consideration
  • Contribute to the creation, maintenance, promotion and use of metadata resources such as Data Dictionaries and Data Lineages.
  • Be a champion for Data and the best use of our Group data resources in support of business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of data across key business areas, systems, processes and business relationships.
  • Proactively identify improvements to data manipulation processes and systems, promoting best practise.
  • Work collaboratively with Change and IT to ensure that data is considered within projects and business as usual It operations
  • Maintain the company's compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations.

 

  1. Experience Requirements
  • 6-8 years of strong experience of data related activities e.g. analysis/data management/analytics
  • 6 years of stakeholder engagement : Interacting with people across both business and IT domains
  • 4 years of providing Data Analysis services e.g. as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst/Developer is essential
  • 4 years experience of implementing processes and procedures around data and information management is desirable

 

  1. Knowledge Requirements
  • Strong experience in data related activities and principles is essential
  • Evidence of delivering analysis solutions is essential
  • Demonstrable knowledge of data tools landscapes
  • Understanding of design and development of data stores, database, data warehouses and associated toolsets is desirable
  • Ability to query and interrogate data using languages such as SQL , Python
  • Excellent documentation writing skills
  • Experience of Data landscapes, ETL/ELT processes and best practices

 

 

  1. Skill and Competency Requirements
  • Proven passion for data is essential and a strong drive for results is essential
  • Good interpersonal, influencing and relationship management skills is essential
  • Extremely meticulous in approach to work with outstanding attention to detail is essential
  • A quick learner and an ability to work with little or no supervision is essential
  • A team player with an ability to function in a setting with tight deadlines is essential
  • A commercial outlook, able to relate data initiatives to business value

 

  1. Required Qualifications/Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is essential
  • Proven experience in a similar role for at least 4 years is essential
  • Impeccable communication skills and ability to demonstrate
  • Data analyst certification/qualification is desirable
