Job Description

The world's most consequential decisions in boardrooms, governments and communities are shaped by people who understand Economics and Business deeply. At Shrewsbury International School India, we are looking for a teacher who can bring that weight and relevance into the classroom, inspiring students to think like economists, reason like strategists, and engage with the world around them with genuine intellectual confidence.

This is an opportunity to join a founding department at one of India's most prestigious new schools — and to help establish the standard by which Economics and Business education here will be measured for years to come.

About the school:

Opened in August 2025, Shrewsbury International School India is the newest and largest boarding school for students aged 11 to 18 in India. Set on a breathtaking 150-acre campus in Madhya Pradesh at the very heart of the subcontinent the school is a flagship institution within the JSW Schools group and a proud extension of the globally respected Shrewsbury brand.

The school delivers a rigorous British curriculum: CIE Lower Secondary, progressing through IGCSEs to A Level, embedded within the holistic, whole-person philosophy for which Shrewsbury has been celebrated for over 450 years. State-of-the-art academic facilities sit alongside unparalleled provision for co-curricular and boarding life creating a community where intellectual ambition and personal development are equally central to school life.

The role:

Due to the school's rapid expansion, we are growing our Economics and Business Department and are seeking a passionate, dedicated and experienced teacher with the ability to teach both subjects confidently up to A Level. The department is already a strong, founding presence within the school, and the right candidate will help shape its next chapter.

The successful candidate will:

  • Deliver stimulating, analytically rigorous Economics and Business lessons across Key Stage 3, IGCSE and A Level
  • Help build and strengthen a founding department with a clear identity and high academic ambition
  • Connect classroom learning to the real world — drawing on current affairs, global markets and contemporary business to bring the subject alive
  • Prepare students not just for examinations, but for lives in which economic and commercial literacy genuinely matters
  • Play an active and enthusiastic role in the wider life of the school community

We would particularly welcome applications from candidates with an interest in contributing to the life of a boarding house. Those wishing to be considered for boarding responsibilities should indicate this clearly in their application letter.

Who we are looking for:
  • A qualified teacher with a strong academic background in Economics, Business, or a closely related discipline
  • Proven experience teaching both Economics and Business up to A Level within a British or international curriculum framework
  • The ability to make complex economic and commercial concepts accessible, relevant and genuinely engaging for secondary-age students
  • Familiarity with the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) framework, or a clear willingness to transition into it
  • A collaborative, intellectually curious professional who holds themselves and their students to the highest standards
  • Someone who follows the world - markets, policy, enterprise and naturally brings that awareness into their teaching
What we offer
  • A competitive and attractive salary package
  • Semi-furnished on-campus accommodation
  • Tuition fee remission for up to two children at Shrewsbury India or equivalent remission at a local JSW sister school if your children are not yet of secondary age
  • The opportunity to shape a founding department and define its long-term identity
  • A collegial, ambitious and values-driven professional community
  • The Shrewsbury name and all the heritage, network and purpose that comes with it

How to apply:

Complete the application form and submit it to [Confidential Information] by 17:00 IST, Friday 8 May 2026.

Initial interviews will be conducted online during the week commencing 11 May 2026.

If you would like to learn more about the role before applying, please reach out and we will arrange a conversation with our Head of Economics and Business, Ms. Sana Durrani.
