  • You'll be responsible for supporting the corporation tax compliance requirements of our largest banking entities
  • We're offering this role at associate level

What you'll do:

In this role, you'll be responsible for supporting our UK corporation tax compliance. This will involve managing a portfolio of group companies, preparing the annual tax provisions and tax accounting disclosures for those companies, liaising with Finance teams to gather information required for the preparation of the computations, and carrying out initial research into tax technical issues. You'll also be responsible for finalising the tax computations ready for submission to HMRC.

Furthermore, you'll be involved in assisting with many of our tax responsibilities including:

  • Group relief payment settlements and ledger management, alongside the preparation of internal group relief settlement summaries and collections
  • Providing input into and assisting with the corporation tax processes and group relief plans for submission to HM Revenue & Customs and managing corporation tax payments to and from HMRC
  • Gathering and manipulating data into an appropriate format to use in the preparation of the tax computations
  • Supporting and delivering specialist input and support where required such as the quarterly corporation tax instalment payment process, group relief plans and settlements or elections with HMRC, and assisting the year end group reporting process

The skills you'll need:

To be successful in this role, you'll need proven accounting abilities and experience in the preparation and review of tax charges and disclosures, including deferred taxation.

A professional accounting qualification would be beneficial as would an up-to-date knowledge of the UK corporation tax system, including legislative, non-statutory, and practical aspects, however neither are essential and training will be provided.

More importantly you'll be able to demonstrate a general business and commercial awareness.

In addition, you'll need:

  • A good working knowledge of Windows, Excel, and Word
  • The ability to handle a high-volume workload on a regular basis within overall deadlines and service standards, and the flexibility to work overtime as required
  • A good understanding of how to deliver and maintain a best-in-class taxation service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • An understanding of how to maintain close working relationships with other tax teams and how to collaborate with other business areas to achieve team and business objectives
  • To be confident, motivated, have an open mind, and be willing to take on new challenges
