What you will do
- Develop, specify, and apply subsea controls design / operating criteria for wide variety of activities, developments, and operations, i.e. large-scale deepwater capital projects, R&D programs, offshore installation activities, and low carbon solutions opportunities
- Involvement in various subsea project support efforts from concept evaluation and selection to commissioning and start up
- Evaluate the strengths and shortcomings inherent in different controls design philosophies
- Participate in risk assessments, root cause failure analyses, technology evaluations/selections, and offshore installation of subsea hardware
- Develop and carry out procedures for FAT, EFAT, SIT, and pre-loadout of subsea hardware and software
- Participate in subsea industry activities
- Lead revision to company standards and/or industry practices
- Support subsea operations issue identification and resolution efforts
- Interface with people from different disciplines (e.g. marine, risers, pipelines, flow assurance) to align on work scopes and work products
- Interface with suppliers, contractors, and other third parties to ensure work products are in alignment with ExxonMobil expectations
- Provide management with sound recommendations and context for subsea controls design philosophies and strategic contracting decisions
- Monitor and provide engineering oversight of third party engineering contractors and service providers to various Business Units
- Steward ExxonMobil s subsea software and tools, including internal subsea controls design/selection guides
- Mentor and guide less experienced engineers in the subsea discipline
Skills and Qualifications
- B.Tech. or M.Tech. degree in Subsea, Offshore, Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, Civil, Instrumentation & Control or Chemical Engineering or related disciplines with minimum GPA 7.0
- 3 to 12 years experience in subsea design or operations with expertise in subsea controls, with specific emphasis on topsides controls equipment (e.g. MCS, Cause & Effects, Interlocks).
- Working knowledge of subsea controls equipment, including topsides hardware/software, subsea/downhole instruments, umbilicals, and electric/hydraulic/optic distribution systems. Working knowledge of the subsea equipment being controlled (e.g. subsea trees and manifolds), as well as qualification, testing, and installation methods.
- Familiar with typical equipment and component selection drivers & tradeoffs, failure modes and demonstrated ability to diagnose the problem
- Working knowledge of applying subsea engineering codes & standards, such as API 17E, 17F, 17S, 17Y and other relevant API, ISO, and ASME subsea hardware and piping standards
- Demonstrated familiarity with a typical subsea system including general layout, process flow and chemical distribution, types of subsea control systems, and topside systems/interfaces

- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with ability to mentor others and work with globally diverse business teams
- Flexible to work in shifts 1.30 PM - 10.30 PM IST
