Senior Structural Engineer - Modular Construction
Job Summary
We are seeking a Structural Engineering Lead to design and develop PEB steel and RCC structures for modular construction projects. The role focuses on industrialized construction, ensuring designs comply with IS codes and Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles while enabling efficient fabrication and on-site assembly.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Analysis
- Design PEB steel structures, LGSF systems, and RCC components in compliance with IS codes (IS 800, IS 456, etc.)
- Apply industrialized construction principles for optimized fabrication and assembly
- Develop and manage structural models using BIM tools
- Collaborate with architects and cross-functional teams for integrated design solutions
- Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFMA)
- Ensure designs minimize on-site complexity and maximize prefabrication
- Work with procurement teams to select cost-effective, standardized materials
- Optimize designs for ease of manufacturing and construction scalability
- Structural BOM & Documentation
- Prepare structural estimates for tendering (steel quantities, foundation scope)
- Develop detailed Bills of Materials (BOM)
- Create construction and shop drawings for fabrication and erection
- Quality Assurance & Approvals
- Prepare and submit structural designs for technical validation
- Ensure material specifications meet relevant standards and certifications
- Develop fabrication drawings with detailed specifications
- Establish welding procedures and quality control standards
- Implement QC processes including inspection, testing, and compliance checks
- Erection & Site Quality Control
- Provide detailed erection drawings and sequencing plans
- Ensure qualified erection teams and compliance with safety standards
- Conduct site inspections to verify structural alignment, connections, and execution quality
- Maintain quality control documentation and compliance records
- Construction Methodology Development
- Develop standardized prefab construction methodologies
- Drive innovation in materials, techniques, and processes
- Create scalable construction frameworks (Prefab Playbook)
- Integrate sustainability practices such as waste reduction and energy efficiency
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with architects, MEP teams, procurement, and project stakeholders
- Participate in design discussions, cost optimization, and constructability reviews
- Maintain clear communication across teams to ensure project success
- Continuous Improvement
- Implement lean construction practices and process improvements
- Stay updated with advancements in PEB, prefab technologies, and IS codes
- Adopt new tools, materials, and automation techniques
- Participate in training and professional development initiatives
Skills & Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering
- Strong experience in PEB and RCC structural design (modular construction preferred)
- Proficiency in tools like STAAD Pro, ETABS, AutoCAD, and BIM software
- Strong knowledge of IS codes (IS 800, IS 875, IS 456, etc.)
- Expertise in DFMA and industrialized construction methods
- Understanding of BIM workflows and 3D modeling
- Knowledge of material selection and procurement processes
- Familiarity with Lean or Agile methodologies (preferred)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work in cross-functional teams with high attention to detail
