Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Staff Engineer to drive the design, architecture, and development of scalable telecom network management solutions. The role requires strong expertise in Core Java, system architecture, distributed systems, telecom domain knowledge, and cloud technologies.
The Staff Engineer will work closely with product management, engineering teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to design high-performance systems, mentor engineering teams, and ensure delivery of reliable and scalable platforms.
Responsibilities
Key ResponsibilitiesTelecom Platform Development
- Develop and enhance features in Network Management Systems (NMS) and Element Management Systems (EMS).
- Implement solutions aligned with FCAPS architecture (Fault, Configuration, Accounting, Performance, Security).
- Integrate network protocols such as SNMP, handling traps, polling, and MIB processing.
- Work with telecom standards such as Transport-API, MTOSI, TMF frameworks, and vendor APIs.
System Architecture & Technical Leadership
- Lead architecture design and development of large-scale backend systems using Core Java and modern design patterns.
- Define and drive scalable, high-performance system architectures for telecom platforms such as NMS/EMS.
- Guide engineering teams in best coding practices, design standards, and system scalability.
- Review critical designs and ensure alignment with long-term product strategy.
Backend Development & Performance Engineering
- Develop and optimize high-performance backend services using Java 8+ features such as Lambda expressions, Streams, Functional Interfaces, and CompletableFuture.
- Design efficient algorithms and data processing pipelines for large-scale telecom network data.
- Implement advanced multi-threading and concurrency control mechanisms to handle high-volume real-time network events.
Database & Data Processing
- Design and optimize relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL.
- Work on large dataset processing, query optimization, caching strategies, and database performance tuning.
- Implement scalable data models for telecom network inventory, alarms, and performance monitoring systems.
Integration & Distributed Systems
- Design and implement distributed services and event-driven architectures using technologies like Kafka.
- Work with Hibernate/JPA for efficient data persistence.
- Design RESTful APIs and microservices for scalable telecom applications.
Cloud & Infrastructure
- Design and deploy solutions on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Implement cloud-native architecture principles including scalability, resilience, and containerization.
- Work within Linux-based development environments.
Competitive & Technology Analysis
- Perform competitive product analysis to identify feature gaps and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate industry trends and suggest improvements to maintain product competitiveness.
- Provide technical inputs to product teams based on market and technology insights.
Mentoring & Collaboration
- Mentor engineers and guide them in system design, coding standards, and problem solving.
- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, product management, and frontend teams to deliver high-quality releases.
- Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and technology roadmap planning.
Technical RequirementsCore Expertise
- 1315 years of experience in Core Java development.
- Strong knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms (DS/Algo).
- Expertise in Java Design Patterns and scalable system design.
Concurrency & Performance
- Deep understanding of multi-threading, synchronization, and concurrency challenges.
- Experience building high-performance and low-latency systems.
Web & Application Servers
- Experience working with Tomcat or other Java-based application servers.
- Exposure to JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or similar technologies.
Persistence & Messaging
- Strong experience with Hibernate or JPA frameworks.
- Experience with Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
Development Environment
- Experience working in Linux-based development environments.
- Proficiency with version control systems such as Git.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing microservices architectures using Spring Boot.
- Hands-on experience with React, Ajax, WebSockets, or modern frontend frameworks.
- Knowledge of NETCONF/YANG models and vendor-specific network APIs.
- Strong expertise in SNMP-based device management including traps, polling, and MIB handling.
- Experience developing telecom platforms aligned with FCAPS network management models.

Qualifications
AI & Intelligent Automation (Good to have)
- Design and implement AI/ML-driven solutions to improve network monitoring, predictive fault detection, and automated root cause analysis in telecom networks.
- Apply machine learning techniques for anomaly detection, performance prediction, and intelligent alarm correlation in large-scale network environments.
- Build data pipelines and analytics frameworks to process large volumes of network telemetry, alarms, and performance metrics for AI-based insights.
- Integrate AI-powered automation to optimize network operations such as traffic optimization, capacity planning, and fault resolution.
- Evaluate and adopt modern AI technologies such as Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), and intelligent copilots to enhance operational efficiency, developer productivity, and automated troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with data scientists and platform teams to develop AI-enabled network management capabilities for next-generation NMS/EMS platforms.

Tejas Networks is driving cutting-edge research to revolutionize content delivery and wireless communication technologies. One major area of focus is the development of advanced solutions that integrate broadcast and cellular networks to enable seamless content distribution.
