General Summary:

As a Software Engineer in Software/Firmware Validation, you will design, develop, and validate embedded and cloud edge software and firmware. Your work ensures Qualcomm products meet stringent quality and performance standards across mobile, compute, and automotive platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—including hardware, system, and test engineers—to deliver robust software solutions aligned with customer requirements.


Job Overview:

  • Develop comprehensive software/firmware test plans aligned with requirements traceability and coverage goals.
  • Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites to verify functionality and compliance at unit, integration, and system levels.
  • Perform manual testing focused on customer deployment and user experience across various environments.
  • Contribute to building continuous integration and continuous deployment processes within Quality and Release Engineering.
  • Support software production readiness through workload modeling, use-case implementation, and cross-team collaboration on debugging and diagnostics.
  • Identify performance and power optimization opportunities within operating systems and customer environments.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 4+ years of software engineering experience; OR
  • Master's degree with 3+ years experience; OR
  • PhD with 2+ years experience.
  • 2+ years of experience programming in C, C++, Java, Python, or similar languages.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in software/firmware validation.
  • 5+ years in software test engineering with a focus on Data Center Server platforms.
  • Strong experience in software/firmware test automation.
  • Proficient with operating systems such as Ubuntu Server, RHEL, SUSE, Windows Server, or similar.
  • Experience working with multiple software and hardware teams to ensure comprehensive validation coverage.
  • Strong C and/or Python programming skills.
  • Experience developing automated test cases for server firmware supporting bring-up and production releases.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with SW/FW integration in BIOS/UEFI, BMC firmware, or operating systems for x86/ARM64/RISC-V server platforms.
  • Familiarity with server firmware standards and open-source implementations for ARM64-based servers.
