What You'll Do
The Senior Buyer is responsible for driving procurement, supplier management, and material planning activities to ensure uninterrupted material availability for the Chennai manufacturing plant. The role drives cost optimization, supplier performance improvement, inventory control, and adherence to Eaton's purchasing processes and compliance requirements.
This position requires deep expertise in direct material sourcing, ERP proficiency, strong analytical capability, and leadership in coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Procurement & Purchase Order Management.
- Procure direct materials in line with plant and corporate SCM procedures.
- Review and process requisitions and convert them to purchase orders in MRP systems.
- Manage PO updates for design or delivery changes and ensure accurate SAP data maintenance.
- Ensure timely resolution of supplier‑related issues (delivery, claims, quality).
- Supplier Relationship & Performance Management.
- Manage supplier fulfillment from PO issuance to delivery at the plant.
- Evaluate supplier performance (OTD, quality, responsiveness) and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct supplier performance meetings and capacity reviews for subcontracted items.
- Drive supplier improvement programs aligned with Eaton Supply Chain objectives.
- Inventory & Material Planning.
- Maintain material inventory levels aligned with plant targets and inventory analysts.
- Perform PFEP (Plan For Every Part) activities to optimize inventory and improve OTD.
- Execute exception messages (pull‑ins, pushouts, cancellations) and resolve discrepancies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams on ECN/phase‑in/phase‑out processes.
- Work closely with logistics, warehouse, and production schedulers for smooth material flow.
- Interface with global and intercompany teams for pricing, lead time, expediting, and compliance updates.
Qualifications
- Any Bachelor or Masters degree in Engg ( Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical & Instrumentation).
- 12+ years in SCM.

- Strong Knowledge on SAP-MM/PP Module.
- Excellent understanding of import/local supplier management and inventory optimization.
