Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Developer to work on mission-critical back-office and compliance applications used by stock brokers. The role involves extensive handling of complex transactional, reporting, and regulatory data, including advanced processing of JSON and XML exchanged with Exchanges, Depositories, and third-party systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in MS-SQL Server, data transformation, and performance-optimized reporting in high-volume capital markets environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex MS-SQL stored procedures, functions, and views supporting:
  • Trading back-office operations
  • Client accounting
  • Settlement and reconciliation
  • Regulatory and compliance reporting
  • Read, parse, validate, and transform JSON and XML payloads received from:
  • Stock Exchanges (NSE/BSE)
  • Clearing Corporations
  • Depositories (NSDL/CDSL)
  • Integrated third-party applications
  • Design and manage nested JSON/XML structures, including masterchild (parentchild) relationships such as:
  • Client Accounts Transactions
  • Trades Obligations Settlements
  • Convert relational database structures into JSON/XML formats and vice-versa for system integrations and reporting.
  • Write and optimize dynamic SQL to handle variable JSON/XML schemas driven by regulatory or exchange-mandated changes.
  • Develop and manage complex operational and regulatory reports using:
  • Advanced SQL queries
  • Temporary tables
  • Cursors
  • CTEs
  • Optimize database performance for large data volumes, end-of-day (EOD) processing, and time-critical reports.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and auditability, critical to capital markets operations.
  • Work closely with functional, compliance, and support teams to translate regulatory requirements into system logic.
  • Assist in troubleshooting production issues and providing root-cause analysis.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in MS-SQL Server development.
  • Strong expertise in:
  • JSON processing (OPENJSON, FOR JSON, etc.)
  • XML processing (nodes(), value(), query(), FOR XML)
  • Proven experience handling complex hierarchical and nested data structures.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design, normalization, and data integrity.
  • Extensive experience in dynamic SQL and schema-driven data processing.
  • Advanced knowledge of:
  • Query optimization
  • Indexing strategies
  • Execution plan analysis
  • Experience working with large transactional datasets and reporting systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.

Preferred / Good-to-Have:

  • Prior experience in:
  • Stock broker back-office systems
  • Capital markets operations
  • Exchange / Depository integrations
  • Understanding of:
  • Trade lifecycle
