About The Role

BNP Paribas is seeking an experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join our dynamic technology team in Chennai (Perungudi). This role is pivotal in supporting our database development and management initiatives, ensuring high performance, security, and reliability of our critical systems. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL development, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will collaborate closely with both onshore and offshore teams, contributing to the design, implementation, and optimization of database solutions that align with business needs and technical standards. Your expertise will help streamline operations, enhance data security, and improve overall system efficiency, supporting BNP Paribas's commitment to delivering exceptional financial services.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 5 to 8 years of relevant experience in Oracle database development and management. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Strong proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL scripting is essential, along with hands-on experience in database design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of ER diagrams, data flow analysis, and data modeling is highly desirable. Familiarity with Agile or iterative software development methodologies and experience working within financial services or mission-critical systems will be advantageous. Excellent communication skills, the ability to mentor peers, and a problem-solving mindset are also key attributes for success in this role.

Responsibilities

As an Oracle PL/SQL Developer at BNP Paribas, your responsibilities will include developing and maintaining complex database schemas, tables, indexes, sequences, constraints, functions, procedures, packages, and user roles. You will analyze business requirements to design optimized database models and implement solutions that enhance system performance and reliability. Your role involves performing capacity analysis, tuning databases, and monitoring performance metrics to proactively identify and resolve issues.

Part of your duties will include writing high-quality, efficient code and participating in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices. You will work closely with application developers, particularly those working on front-end Java components, to understand their data needs and facilitate seamless integration. Maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, performing design reviews, and testing upgrades are also integral to your responsibilities.

You will be expected to lead efforts in database security management, including creating and maintaining users and roles, assigning privileges, and ensuring compliance with security standards. Additionally, your role involves performing data anonymization, managing database environments for development, testing, pre-production, and production, and ensuring data integrity across all stages.

Mentoring team members, sharing knowledge, and conducting peer reviews will be part of your contribution to fostering a collaborative team environment. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving performance issues, optimizing queries, and ensuring high availability of database systems. Your technical expertise will support continuous improvement initiatives, aligning database architecture with evolving business requirements.
