Primary Responsibilities

Evaluate and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
Treat speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.
Provide training and education to family/caregivers and others.
Work collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines.
Combining traditional therapies with new and innovative techniques.
Using standardized assessments to monitor progress at regular intervals and review treatment plans where necessary.
Motivating patients, especially when progress is slow, to stick to the treatment plan and provide evidence when they seem despondent.
Maintaining patient databases and meticulously updating medical records.
Establishing networks with other speech-language pathologists and healthcare professionals by attending regular conferences and professional events.
Staying abreast of developments in speech-language pathology and in the broader medical field.
Teach preventive strategies to family members on choking and aspiration
