Looking for API Test Engineer

Role Summary
As a Validation Engineer, your role is to guarantee the integrity of the Developer Experience. You are the bridge between the technical specification and the user's reality. You will verify that every workflow—from API key provisioning to sandbox experimentation—works exactly as documented. You will perform rigorous audits of API objects to ensure logical consistency and Time to First Success optimization.
Core Responsibilities
- Integrity Verification: Execute rigorous manual and automated testing of API endpoints to confirm that the refined specs provided by the Backend Engineer are 100% accurate against live responses.
- Self-Service Flow Validation: Test the end-to-end Time to First Success journey, including API key provisioning, sandbox environment access, and the transition from sandbox to production.
- Persona-Based Usability Testing: Validate that the documentation speaks effectively to different audiences (Business Users vs. External Developers) as defined in the RFP.
- Gap Identification: Proactively identify Documentation Gaps—areas where the API logic are misaligned, the object structures are inconsistent, or the naming leads to developer friction.
- Sandbox Fidelity Audit: Ensure the sandbox environment behaves exactly like production so that developers can experiment and progress toward production usage with confidence.
Background & Experience
Technical Proficiency
- Expertise in API Testing Tools (Postman or similar) for functional verification.
- Strong ability to read and interpret OpenAPI/YAML files and compare them against JSON payloads.
- Experience with Developer Portals and evaluating the User Experience of technical documentation.
- Understanding of Merchant Services or Fintech workflows (payment processing, credentialing, etc.) is highly preferred.
Education & Years of Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience in Quality Assurance.
- 4+ years in QA or Quality Engineering, specifically focused on API testing, validation, and/or technical audit roles.
