JD - Database Developer Role
- Design database systems: Database Developers main responsibility is to analyse the needs of the Promotool application and produce an effective database system according to its needs. This includes analysing SQL code, queries, stored procedures to optimise the database performance. To tune and index the queries to ensure a fast and optimized response.
- Test databases: A database developer must be able to run performance testing procedures to ensure the proper operations of a database and to ensure that it's error-free. If any errors are thrown when the code runs, they need to be corrected and the code needs to be re-tested. This involves troubleshooting any potential problems, creating and submitting test reports and database improvement.
- Develop database documentation: As a database is developed, the database developer must write documentation about the system and put together an operational manual. The documentation must include information regarding changes or improvements to the database as they are implemented.
The Database Developer is responsible for the overall development and maintenance of the application databases used to operate the Promotool platform. In this role, you'll be responsible for the evolution of data, including designing and streamlining our data operations and maintaining our database to ensure peak performance.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Be part of the Promotool development team to improve the database design and use best practice for the database queries and updates.
- Develop and maintain complex models and logical database designs.
- Identify and resolve all issues related to the databases to ensure that systems are online and without service interruption.
- Can create and maintain stored procedures, views, tables, jobs, triggers etc.
- Develop new and enhance existing standards, processes and procedures, and guidelines for database environments using industry experiences, best practices research, and business needs.
- Analyse and report the performance of database operations.
- Database administration/development experience with RDBMS.
Skill & Experience Requirements
- 5+ years in IT service
- 5+ years with c# coding against SQL Server
- 3+ years as a Database Developer
- Proficient with relational databases - mainly SQL Server in Azure
- Experience in designing and implementing database structures
- Experience with automating DBA tasks
- Experience with LINQ c# queries and how these are translated to SQL
- Experience with data modelling and schema design
- Experience with Cloud-based DB solutions is a plus
- Proven experience using Transact SQL, Stored Procedure and UDF
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems
- Demonstrated experience in tuning database and its objects and using database indexes to improve performance.
- Understanding of database design practices, including database normalization concepts
Candidate's communication in English should be good.
