Role Overview
We are looking for a thoughtful and highly organized Social Media Manager who will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of digital communication initiatives in collaboration with a government ministry.
This role sits at the intersection of policy communication, public engagement, and digital storytelling. The ideal candidate understands how to translate complex initiatives into clear, engaging content while maintaining accuracy, credibility, and alignment with government communication protocols.
You will work closely with ministry officials, internal teams, and creative partners to ensure that messaging reaches citizens effectively across digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with ministry communication priorities.
- Create and maintain monthly and campaign-based content calendars.
- Identify opportunities to communicate policy updates, public programs, and impact stories.
Government Coordination
- Serve as the primary coordination point with ministry officials and communication teams.
- Ensure social media messaging aligns with official announcements, campaigns, and policy communications.
- Manage approvals and ensure adherence to government communication guidelines.
Content Development & Campaign Execution
- Work with designers, video editors, and content creators to produce high-quality social media content.
- Oversee creation of posts, reels, videos, graphics, and informational threads.
- Translate policy initiatives into accessible, citizen-friendly digital narratives.
Platform Management
- Manage official social media channels (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
- Monitor engagement, comments, and public sentiment where appropriate.
- Ensure timely publishing and platform optimization.
Analytics & Insights
- Track performance of posts and campaigns using analytics tools.
- Produce monthly social media reports and insights.
- Recommend improvements based on engagement trends and audience behavior.
Stakeholder & Event Support
- Coordinate social media coverage for ministry events, announcements, and launches.
- Support digital amplification of key policy initiatives and public campaigns.
Required Qualifications
- 3 to 7 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or public communications.
- Experience working with government organizations, public sector initiatives, or policy communication is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms and content formats.
- Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to simplify complex topics.
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and managing approvals.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with public policy, governance, or development sector communication.
- Experience running public awareness campaigns or citizen engagement initiatives.
- Knowledge of social media analytics and reporting tools.
