Job Description

  • Head Human Resources for a Textile Manufacturing plant
  • Play a strategic role while being part of the Plant Leadership team

Job Description

  • Oversee overall plant administration and monitoring, including security, transportation, housekeeping, and gardening services, managed through professional vendors in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and ER teams at the plant level.
  • Administer Payroll for permanent employees, retainers, team leaders, and contract labor.
  • Lead Training & Development initiatives, including annual training needs assessment and execution of the training plan.
  • Manage end-to-end HR Operations and transactional activities for the plant.
  • Monitor and ensure timely Compliance with all applicable Legal and Statutory obligations.
  • Drive Manpower Planning and Budgeting processes.
  • Manage Union Relations, including collective bargaining for Long-Term Wage Settlements, regular meetings, and grievance resolution.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as Government authorities and Union representatives.
  • Address disciplinary matters, including absenteeism and employee misconduct.
  • Coordinate employee welfare initiatives, including uniforms and canteen services.
  • Support and coordinate health and safety programs at the plant.
  • Handle labor-related Legal cases, working with external advocates to ensure effective resolution.
  • Oversee contract labor administration, including contract issuance, attendance verification, billing, and wage disbursement.
  • Manage security operations, including gate report verification, record checks, and follow-up on disciplinary issues identified during frisking.
  • Coordinate and support head office HR initiatives, including Recruitment, Performance management and Employee Engagement.

The Successful Applicant

A successful candidate in this role should fulfill the following criteria:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Personnel Management, or Industrial Relations (MSW or MBA in HR).
  • 10-20 years of experience in HR and IR roles.
  • MUST- Proficiency in Tamil, including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • MUST- Experience in manufacturing organizations in Textiles manufacturing/ Apparel/ Fashion/Clothing/ Footwear/ Leather/ Jewellery/ Engineering/ FMCG industries
  • Sound knowledge of Labor Laws and Statutory Compliances.
  • Proven experience in team and people management.
  • Should currently be in a Plant HR role and should have on-ground exp
  • MUST- in-depth experience with signing of LTS
  • Experience handling Unions
  • Hands-on experience handling ATS
