Job Description

As a Senior Technical Writer, you will be the primary voice of our product. You will work within the heart of our software production cycle, transforming complex codebases and technical workflows into polished, professional User Documentation. With your MA in English, you will lead our efforts in linguistic excellence, ensuring that every guide is not only technically accurate but also rhetorically effective and easy to navigate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Integration: Embed within the software development teams to document new features, APIs, and system architectures in real-time.
  • User Documentation & Guides: Author and maintain high-quality End-User Manuals, Installation Guides, and Troubleshooting modules.
  • Content Lifecycle Management: Manage the documentation versioning process to ensure guides match specific software release versions (v1.0, v2.0, etc.).
  • Communication Bridge: Act as a high-level communicator who can interview subject matter experts (SMEs) and synthesize their technical knowledge into plain English for customers.
  • Information Architecture: Design the structure of the help portal or documentation site to improve findability and user self-service rates.
  • Editorial Leadership: Review and edit content produced by other departments (Marketing, Support, Engineering) to ensure brand and stylistic consistency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Academic Excellence: An MA in English is required. We value your ability to apply advanced composition, rhetorical theory, and professional writing standards to technical content.
  • Software Expertise: 5+ years of experience in a software production environment. You should be comfortable with Agile/Scrum methodologies and the software release process.
  • Mastery of User Guides: A proven track record of building user-centric documentation that reduces support tickets and improves user adoption.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills. You must be able to lead meetings, present documentation strategies to stakeholders, and negotiate content requirements with engineers.
  • Technical Toolset: Experience with industry-standard tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Confluence, or Markdown-based Docs-as-Code (GitHub/GitLab).
