Senior Technical Writer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring excellent technical writing and communication skills, expertise in creating engaging product documentation, and perform peer reviews. Play a key role in creating Product demo videos and Conceptual videos that elevate the customer experience.

Key Job Functions/Responsibilities

Plan, develop, organize, write, and update product documentation in compliance with our standards and timelines.

• Collaborate with product managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information, analyze requirements, and deliver high-quality documentation.
• Review junior writers drafts to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with style guidelines.
• Prepare charts, graphics, illustrations, and screen captures to support documentation.
• Produce documentation for both print and online help systems.
• Use MadCap Flare for authoring and editing technical content.
• Develop scripts and storyboards for short tutorials and 2-minute explainer videos.
• Create videos using tools such as Canva and Camtasia.
• Provide writing, editing, and design support to team members as needed.
• Identify opportunities for improving how documentation delivered to customers and recommend innovative approaches.

Basic Skill Level Requirements

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, English, Journalism, or another writing-related or Information Systems/Computing-related subject.

Alternatively, comparable training in Technical Writing with several years experience.

Experience

6- 10 years of experience working in a technical writer position in the software industry.

Experience in the financial services industry is a plus.

Technical Skills/Skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Expertise in MadCap Flare, Camtasia, and Canva.

Experience in technical design, layout, and production concepts and practices.

Understanding topic-based writing and ability to write in explanatory and procedural styles.

Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.

Strong project management skill is an asset.

Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.

Must be a reliable team player able to effectively manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Software Requirements

Proficient in MadCap Flare.

Knowledge of XML, HTML, and CSS.

Knowledge of version control systems (GitLab/SVN)

Knowledge of SnagIt, MadCap Capture, PaintShop Pro, or similar screen capture applications.

Knowledge of MadCap Mimic, Adobe Captivate, or a similar program is a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

Proficiency in video tools to produce the product demo and conceptual videos.
