Act as technical manager and mentor to a team of system engineers who:
Implement, manage and support VMware VSphere virtualization technology on bare-metal server hardware. Implement and manage bare-metal servers.
Implement, manage and support operating systems with Microsoft Windows Server OS and Redhat Linux Server OS.
Implement, manage and support many applications which support the operation of the private cloud infrastructure:
Microsoft Active Directory, Active Directory DNS, Window Time, Domain Group Policies, WSUS (Windows Update Services), Network Policy Server (NPS)
Red Hat Satellite, Linux BIND DNS Servers, Cronyd Time Servers, Patching
Omnissa Horizon VDI, Horizon UEM, and Windows 11 based VDIs.
Various other 3 rd party applications used to support and manage the environment.
Maintain a secure and supportable environment at current release and patch levels, apply regular and routine updates and patches to all servers and systems.
Implement and maintain server and systems infrastructure adhering to HIPAA and PCI-DSS requirements, provide evidence to security compliance teams for ongoing audits.
Implement and maintain automation solutions (automated scripts, etc) to minimize manual tasks, minimize manual application of patches, and optimize the management of the environment.
Directly communicate with client, hardware/software vendors and service providers.
Apply mastery level expertise with knowledge of industry trends and ability to apply concepts in support of business requirements.
Find solutions to isolate, resolve, and prevent the most complex server and system problems across multiple teams/technologies.
Lead troubleshooting efforts to solve problems in the environment.
Independently review and verify changes/solutions of high complexity and ensure governance and change management practices are followed.
Lead server and systems related improvement projects to meet business needs and customer requirements.
Maintains organizational SLO, SLA, and business continuity programs.
Provide on call support.
Qualifications
5-7 years VMware virtualization and IT systems experience in large-scale global environment; including the installation, maintenance and ongoing support of the virtualization platform and supporting IT systems which provide the foundation to complex solutions.
Proven experience supporting and troubleshooting the virtualization layer and virtual networking of Linux-based (50%) and Windows-based (50%) applications in a VMware environment.
Experience designing and delivering solutions for customers within budget and on-time. Must be prepared to discuss solutions and make sound decisions.
Experience designing, deploying and maintaining IT automation. Scripting experience (Python, Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, etc.) required.
Solid networking knowledge and experience, particularly virtual networks and troubleshooting the virtual network.
Must have expert level experience:
VMware VSphere.
Omnissa Horizon VDI.
Operation and management of Microsoft Windows Servers, Active Directory and related services.
Operation and management of RedHat Linux servers and Linux-based applications.
Configuration and support of servers and systems in AWS Public Cloud preferred.
BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related subject.
VMware VCP6+ certified. Additional industry certifications (MCSE, MCP, RHCSA, RHCA, RHCE, etc.) and/or equivalent work experience.
