Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with a strong foundation in building scalable, high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture. You will be a member of the Perfecto R&D staff reporting to the Manager of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Collaborate with frontend developers, QA, DevOps, and product teams to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices
- Optimize backend systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code following best practices
- Implement security and data protection measures
- Perform unit, integration, and performance testing
- Troubleshoot and debug production issues
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies and backend development trends
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in backend development with a strong focus on Java
- Proficiency in Java 12+ and Spring Boot framework
- Experience with RESTful API design and development
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Experience with message brokers like Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Proficiency with version control systems like Git
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining data pipelines using cloud-native tools such as AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, or Google Cloud Dataflow
- Experience integrating backend services with data lakes, data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift, BigQuery ), and real-time streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis)
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)
- Experience with test-driven development (TDD) and behaviour-driven development (BDD)
