Role Overview:
We are looking for a hands-on product designer with deep expertise in plastic design for injection molding. This role involves end-to-end ownership from concept to mass production, working closely with in-house tooling, molding, assembly, and paint teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design plastic components optimized for injection molding and high-volume production
- Apply strong DFM/DFA principles considering tooling, molding, and finishing constraints
- Develop 3D CAD models and production-ready drawings
- Work directly with in-house tool room, molding shop, and assembly line for faster iterations
- Drive mold development, trials, and production readiness
- Resolve real-time issues during tool trials, molding, and assembly
- Ensure part quality, fitment, and surface finish standards
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of experience in plastic product design
- Strong understanding of injection molding, tool design, and material behavior
- Proven experience working closely with toolmakers and production teams
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD)
- Strong knowledge of draft, wall thickness, ribs, bosses, shrinkage, gate locations, and tolerances
- Ability to independently drive projects from concept to production
Good to Have:
- Experience in consumer products / toys / electronics
- Exposure to painted and cosmetic-grade parts
- Experience working in setups with in-house tooling and molding
