Main Purpose of Job

The Senior Power BI Developer designs, builds and governs interactive reports and dashboards that deliver insights from Inchcape's certified data. This role masters advanced DAX and report design techniques, implements RLS (Rowlevel security), administers workspaces and endorsements, and supports domain power users in building their own reports within established guardrails.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop comprehensive Power BI reports and dashboards using certified semantic models; leverage advanced features for interactivity and storytelling.
  • Design and optimise DAX measures, hierarchies and calculations to support complex business metrics.
  • Implement and test rowlevel security (RLS) in datasets; manage user access through security groups and workspace roles.
  • Administer Power BI workspaces and Apps: configure capacities, deployment pipelines (DevTestProd), audiences and App publishing.
  • Apply endorsement policies: review and manage Promoted, Certified and Master data badges; maintain a catalogue of certified datasets.
  • Monitor dataset refreshes, performance and usage using the Admin portal and Purview hub; investigate and resolve issues.
  • Provide templates, training and best practice guidance to business Power Users; review selfservice reports for compliance with standards.
  • Stay current with Power BI and Fabric roadmap; evaluate new features (e.g., Direct Lake, onobject interaction) and advise on adoption, enabling an AI-driven data strategy.

  • Highquality, intuitive Power BI reports and dashboards with documented definitions and metrics.
  • Certified semantic models and datasets that adhere to governance policies and performance standards.
  • Workspace and App configurations that support deployment pipelines and secure distribution.
  • Usage reports, performance logs and endorsement records to support governance and adoption monitoring.
  • Detailed Training and best practices materials, ensuring relevance of the topics and alignment with broader Data Strategies

Essential

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • 8+ years developing analytical solutions with Power BI, including data modelling, DAX and visual design.
  • Indepth understanding of Microsoft Fabric and Power BI architecture, deployment pipelines and security features.
  • Experience administering Power BI tenants: workspace management, capacity planning, endorsement and usage analysis.
  • Knowledge of data governance principles, including RLS, sensitivity labelling and audit trails.
  • Strong aesthetic and storytelling skills; ability to translate complex data into simple, actionable visualisations.
  • Experience collaborating with data engineers and modellers to ensure semantic models meet user needs.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with Tabular Editor, ALM Toolkit or DevOps pipelines for Power BI source control and deployment.
  • Knowledge of other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik) and UI/UX design principles.
  • Exposure to training or coaching programmes for selfservice BI users.
  • Maritime Industry Exposure

Essential

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems design or related field.
  • Microsoft Power BI certification is a MUST

Desirable

  • Alteryx, Tableau or similar certifications are advantageous
